My fiance and I were out of town for all of Friday and Saturday this weekend attending his sister’s college graduation. I hired a pet sitter who had great references and bunny experience (she’s even a certified vet tech). The pet sitter gave me frequent updates and everytime it seemed like Otto wasn’t very interested in food, though he continued to poop a bit and was bright eyed and running around. I was very nervous the whole time we were away and couldn’t wait to get home and make sure he was ok.

We got home on Sunday around noon and he still had tons of food left in his bowl and I was starting to think about when to call the vet. I let him out of his cage and he ran around me for 5 minutes like a happy bunny  and ran into his cage to chow down on hay. I was feeling much better after all of this and glad he was eating so much hay. As the evening wore on I tried giving him his food dish in his maze haven and he at the whole thing faster than I’ve ever seen him do it before! So exciting!  Maybe he just missed us and was too nervous to eat much while we were gone? I have no idea. He does seem really glad to have us back though and later that night he even licked both of us on the nose for the first time  (and didn’t get mad at us after we spent 20 minutes wrestling with him to get his nails clipped). Being a bunny-mom is hard! I’ve never worried so much about my other pets when I was away.

Sounds like he was just sad and missing you!

It’s so worriesome to leave them with someone-no matter how much you trust them-because there’s no telling they’d pick up on changes that could indicate sickness that we’d pick up on because we know them. I fret the whole time I’m out of town even though I leave extensive instructions

yes it does happen with some pets they dont’ eat or eat less when we are gone for a few days……  I am worried Cotton would be that way if I left for more than 24 hours.  He only likes me….  Someone was visiting hubby he tried to pet Cotton  Cotton jumped away.  He comes up to sniff you  but nope don’t touch…

I was holding him too and a man wanted to pet him … Cotton bit him… I tell people no to petting him cause I know he doesn’t like strangers.. Now Ruby doesn’t seem to mind.

People probably think I am being mean but I know how Cotton is.
