        my 8-year-old rabbit has osteophytes.

some people said  rabbit can eat PetPlus’s “synoquin” . it is a supplements for dogs, made of glucosamine.

So I had bought it, but I found it has the flavor of meats.

Can rabbit eat that? I’m afraid it is too salty.

rabbit didn’t like that taste, although he will eat when I add some syrup, I’m very sad when I look he ate it reluctantly.

Is there are another osteophytes supplements can for rabbit?

One of the forum leaders here (who is a vet technician) has suggested the unflavoured Cosequin or Cosequin DS capsules. Also the human version Cosamin DS.

Is you rabbit on any anti-inflammatory medications for this?

I’m curious if you had any success with his other worrying health problems also?

Your vet must have made the diagnosis- what do they recommed?  But I do know that unflavored Cosequin or the human version Cosamin DS is recommended by many vets in the US- dose as you would a cat- so 1/2 capsule once daily.  And you can mix it with something sweet or sprinkle it on their greens.  If the pain in bad there might be some prescription options for NSAID therapy that your vet can prescribe in addition to the Cosamin/Cosequine- glucosamine/chondroitin supplements.

A rabbit will be repelled by any meat flavor, being vegetarians. In general, unflavored medicines, or those with only appealing fruit flavors like apple or banana tend to work best.

I gave Spockie generic human glucosamine (ground up with mortar and pestle and sprinkled on food) in a limited daily amount per my vet’s instruction.
Mashed into a banana slice is an easy way to give it.

His osteophytes have not been serious yet.
                So he doesn’t take medicine.
I just want to postpone it.
thanks for the reply, I’ll change the supplement soon.
