We’re still bonding chaos and nachos after nearly 5 months. It looks like chaos (6yr old male) is going to be the dominant bun in the couple. He mounted nachos (1.5/2.5yr old female) once during the early bonding sessions and has never groomed her. They have stand offs as to who will groom who but she always groom’s him. However she only licks his eyes, not his ears or body. And it seems like she’s being a little rough when it comes to grooming him, I don’t think she means to be but looks like she’s almost biting round his eyes as it’s so hard. There’s isn’t discharge/crust on his eyes or anything that would make her over enthusiastic grooming ok. Is it normal for a bun to focus on grooming 1 body part during bonding? Chaos first mate would lick his ears and face but she was the dominant, chaos being the submissive would groom her completely

It just depends on the pair. One pair of mine will groom only the ears or down the bridge of their nose and butt. My other pair will really clean the eyes and sometimes the ears.

If one is getting angry the other one isn’t grooming them( one of my pairs always gets angry that his wife won’t clean him and then he’ll mount her-he’s emotional haha) you can put a little bit of apple sauce of critical care on their head and maybe that will make the other one happy and grooming will start.
