        Hi all,

I have a weird question.  The last two mornings I went downstairs to feed Cadbury, I noticed that one of her ears felt warm, and the other felt cool.  My mid-morning or so, they are even again.  He appetite is fine, bathroom habits are the same, and she is still running the bunny 500 and doing tons of binkies (as well as eating the carpet and just being her normal bad self).  She is not excessively shaking her head or scratching at either ear. Neither ear seems red, nor am I noticing any discharge. Should I be worried?  Has anyone experienced this before?  Her ears are often at different temperatures during the day depending on her activity level at the moment, but I’ve never noticed a difference between them before.

        Thanks for any help!

You know I have noticed this with Edson sometimes too.  I think it’s probably normal.

Maybe she has more blood vessels in one ear than the other so there is more circulation…unless she’s bi-polar

It is possible that the bun is sleeping on its side and on one of the ears, keeping it warmer. Then, when you come down stairs, it gets up before you can see it sleeping and boom! One ear is warmer than the other.

I agree though, nothing to worry about.

Ha, she probably is bi-polar! Thanks for all the insight. This morning, it was the OTHER ear that was hot and the normally hot one was cool. So, I guess it’s nothing.

                  Thanks again!

Maybe someone’s talking about her and her ears were burning…hee hee…

Since bunnies vent their body heat through their ears (they don’t sweat and only pant when they are going into hyperthermia) I would guess sometimes one ear would get warmer just by chance? I often find Mimzy’s ears are not uniform in heat. Usually scares the heck out of me unless I see he’s behaving normally. I wonder if they have some way to shunt heat to one ear or the other?
