Hi everyone! So I may just be a paranoid bun mom right now, but I’m always so scared ollie is in shock! Ever since I read a thread on how to tell if your rabbit is in shock, I pay attention to all the signs.

So Ollie got a little scared when I walked by, I think he thought I was something else and he kind of started running fast. Then I checked his ears and they were kind of cold and his eyes looked glossy so I cuddled him and kept him warm

His ears aren’t cold anymore, they’re warm again. He’s eating and he did some binkying and is now stretched out laying on the floor looking relaxed, but his eyes still look glossy and he might be breathing too fast.

Would he be acting like this if he was in shock?

Sorry if I sound crazy I would just die if anything happened to him ?

Hi! It doesn’t seem to me like Ollie is in any kind of shock. He could be breathing a little fast because he is warm and has done binkies. Sometimes you can see the body like “heaving” after play when the bun relaxes. It is normal for buns to startle at unexpected things, sometimes not even things a human is capable of picking up on because our senses are quite honestly not anywhere near as good as a rabbit’s. But as a rule they calm down when “danger” is over. The “startle-reflex” is important for survival in the wild – better startle first and think later, so to speak, if you think first you can be somebody’s dinner before you’re done figuring out if there really is danger or not. So it’s normal for rabbits to react this way. It takes a lot more for a healthy bunny to go into shock. A dog that the bun doesn’t know, for example.

Will he take a treat or a pellets if you offer one? That’s often a good way to tell if the bun is really scared. Really scared rabbits dont want to eat.
