        It’s so weird seeing a bun not eat any hay. My guys devour the stuff like it’s goin out of style. She just sort of picks at it.

        Any tips on getting her to like it more. She’s sort of tubby and I plan on taking her off unlimited pellets and switching pellets as well so she will need to eat more hay.

        ps. First Binky today

          BINKY!!! yay!

          what kind are you using? i’d try different “flavors”. also reducing the pellets will help. i would start to reduce them immediately. is she eating veggies yet or no?

            Keep trying and be patient. Also try limiting her pellets by measuring them out. Since she’s never had it, she doesn’t know what it is and you are filling her up on her pellets like Beka said.

              baby bun  was like that too.  all i had to do was limit her pellets to the recommended amount & voila… she started eating hay.

                Kokanee is my ‘bad hay eater”…This is what works, giving her hay several times a day -basically whenever I go by her cage I give a handful (even though there is tonnes in there) and she gets excited and eats it. If she won’t eat it at all, try givng her some ‘hay treat cubes’ (they come in timothy!!) and see if that gets her going!

                YEAH BINKY!! How cute!!

                  She does eat some hay but not enough. Her poops are small and weird and I assume it’s due to the lack of fibre. I’m going to start reducing her pellets next week, gradually to the rec. amount and then I will gradually switch her to timothy pellets my buns are now eating. I think I will try buying her the timothy cubes and see if that works.

                    Mimzy is my picky hay eater. I am lucky to get him to eat it at all most days.
                    Last night though, I switched to some orchard grass (Kaytee) and that’s all he ate! He didn’t even touch his greens!
                    He’ll go back to being picky when he gets tired of the grass though, I have to switch out types just about every other feeding. >.< Whereas Pip will eat hay like a lawn mower on steroids. 0.o;

                      ya for her first binky

                      my vote goes to variety, and reducing the pellets as you’re planning. my bunnies especially love oat hay and I sometimes will buy meadow grass, brome and orchard grass to mix things up.

                        I had someone suggest giving her a mix of timothy/alfalfa just until she starts eating more. What do you guys think of that?

                        ps. there have been LOTS of binkies and zooms. She loves to come out and play with Mom’s Shih Tzu. I have never seen a rabbit so unafraid of a dog before. This same dog coming over to my house literally makes Stormy catatonic until she leaves. He just hears her in the house and he freezes up. Olivia loves her, it’s too cute.
