Here is some pictures of their new condo, I had started buying things for Oreo’s Condo, but since he’s no longer with us I decided to build with what I had for now, and make Oliver and Kizzy one. My husband finished it last night while I was at work. He did a really awesome job! I have plans for a bigger one in the near future, as they grow. This didn’t cost us hardly anything, we had some left over wood from a household project that made the base, so really all we had to buy was the carpeting, cubes, and flooring! We had zip ties, wood, and the door latches already! They both love it! They race up the ramp all the time, and do binky’s on the top level, I was going to put a tent up their, but they seem to like the open space for now!

Oh really nice job! I love the ramps! How did you make the ramps, with grids and carpet?

          The buns look very happy

The Ramp is a piece of ply wood, that we coated with a sealant, and let dry for about 3 days, so that it wouldn’t have a smell, and then covered it with the carpet. the actual area on top is a piece of MDF board, also sealed, and set for 3-4 days then covered in carpet, it sits on grids.

Thanks! Its still hard, especially when I feed them, and give them playtime, thats when it hits me the most thats he’s not here anymore. But Its getting better with time, I think having the 2 babies around makes it a little easier too.

It’s nice that you focused on a project for the other two. The new habitat will not hold any sad reminders of Oreo, but you will still have beautiful memories of him.

This cage is lovely. How do you clean carpeted bottoms? Are they both very good about going in their litter pan?

The carpet bottom’s are pretty easy to clean actually, they tend to keep their mess on the bottom floor, which is hard surface, and very easy to clean, but as far as the carpet, I use a NON CAUSTIC cleaner called “Sol-U-Mel” I spray that on the carpet in a light mist, and then vacuum, it kills any smell, and helps lift the fur out of the carpet at the same time! It works GREAT!!!!! They aren’t prefect about the litter box yet, but they are really good about peeing in it, just the poo part isn’t so great, but I try not to expect to much from them at such young ages.

What a great set-up. It’s good that they urinate mostly in the box though or I could see how the permanent carpet would be a hassle. The poos are easy to clean.

I bet Oliver and Kizzy are very happy!!

That looks awesome! It’s good you’re starting small for now and as they get older you can build something bigger and better. Can the ramp be elevated and secured to make the condo into two separate cages, top and bottom? That might be something to think about in case they need to be separated when hormones kick in or for healing time after the neuters.
