I have an 8 year old male mini lop who has been for the past month or so attempting to hump/court me (female). He does not do this behavior to my male fiancée. Frodo was neutered at age seven and living in an outdoor hutch. For the past year he has been transitioned to an inside hutch. I’m hoping someone will have an ideas for thwarting his advances. Thanks

He might be establishing dominance. Is the female spayed?

I’m sure I’ve read a few accounts of older males suddenly showing hormonal behaviour as a result of growths on the adrenal glands. Hopefully someone else chimes in because I’m not completely sure, but it rings a bell.

Is this a bonded pair then? Occasional humping is normal, even in older rabbits that are spayed/neutered. It’s a way for them to show dominance and sometimes they get it in their little heads that they need to reassert their dominance.

If this is a case where the neutered bunny suddenly starts humping excessively, then there are several other causes to take into consideration. Bladder stones can cause excessive humping. Adrenal hyperplasia or adrenal tumors (what Sarah is talking about) are other possible causes. Oddly enough, humping can also be stress-induced. Wooly is a stress humper. Example: Fireworks on the 4th of July last year sent Wooly into a humping frenzy.

I think Frodoto means her rabbit is humping her all of a sudden?
