Who else has a bun who steals food right off your plate?.
Zeus is definitely guilty of this. Tonight I was having some “dessert stix” from a pizza place. It’s basically pizza dough with powdered sugar and cinnamon on top. I had my plate on the ground as that’s where I was eating. Zeus came over and grabbed one of the stix and dragged it off the plate. When I said “HEY!” he grabbed the stick in his mouth and took off into the hallway with it! Bad bunny. . I then of course went and retrieved it from him, and give him a bite of pineapple to keep him from pouting.
After he finished his pineapple, he came back into the living room and beelined straight for where the plate was. I took it off the floor. . He sniffed everywhere for it, naughty bun!
He’s also obsessed with peanuts. Every time I bring home a donut with peanuts on it, he immediately puts his paws in my lap and gives me the cutest, beggingest face he can muster. . He then will find the bag/box I had the donut in, CRAWL INTO IT, and scavenge any little tiny peanut bits he can find. He’ll do the same thing when I bring home apple chips, dive headfirst into the bag!
He also stole a poptart off my plate once. He took a few bites of the pastry, but when he got to the filling, he looked disgusted and hopped away. He leaves poptarts alone now. .
I never allow him to have ANY of these things (minus the pineapple treats!), hence him being a thief! I take all of it away the second I can get ahold of it. . Anyone else have thieving buns?!
Oh my goodness, yes! My Flopsy princess is no longer allowed to watch TV with me because I like to eat mandarins during Law and Order (well, they’re better than potato chips, I guess) and she has an obnoxious habit of snatching half an orange out of my distracted hand and zooming off into her igloo to devour her loot.
Oh, and last week she took a chomp out of my candy cane while it was on the coffee table. Fortunately I got it away from her before she could steal it, too. SHE IS SO BAD! <3
ETA that thing about the poptarts is HYSTERICAL!
Mine hates human food.
I do let her sniff my food, and she runs away. I have let her sniff a Sour Patch Kid once, and she put her mouth around it, and I SNATCHED it out >_<
She must know the candy is just as sour as she is jk!
You can’t eat peanut butter in my house without a bunny trying to steal your toast. This morning I was eating the ultimate bunny combo, peanut butter and banana on toast…I had a bunny jumping up and down on my lap trying to snatch my food!’
Here’s a bonus picture (old one)
.
Mine is a picky eater too. She doesnt like carrots and she sorta like celery. She loves dandelion greens and goes absolutely bonkers for apples! There is one thing she will eat that is mine and she is not allowed to have… pasta sauce. I had a bowl of spaghetti with pasta sauce while studying in my room on the floor and when I finished it I set it down and studied some more, little miss Tipsy came over and started sniffing my bowl, I really didnt think much of it because she has never tried junk food. Then she started licking my bowl!!! She loved it! I only saw her lick it twice and I picked it up and put it away… I came back and she smelled the pasta sauce on my fingers and started searching for it on me.
hahaha Cassi that is a hilarious picture! Looks like something my Frenchie would do for beer! He loooooves beer!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA PASTA? talk about an italian bunny!
Chacha dislikes carrots too. She has taken a little bit out of it, and ran off, foot flicking. See what I get for trying things? She refuses celery. She just likes her romaine, cilantro, italian parsley (she won’t touch regular parsley), and sometimes wheat grass.
I have tried to get Chacha to eat pineapple (her mommy, grandpa, and grandma are from Hawaii) and she loved it.. and I stopped giving it to her for a few months. I tried to give it to her again, and she SNUBBED IT
Mine does! Once my boyfriend and I were eating dinner on the couch watching a movie, and I gave Hazel a bit of squash that I had cooked (she LOVED it). The next thing I knew, she was up on the couch, and she stole lettuce right off my plate from my salad! TWICE! I wanted to be grumpy, but it was actually hysterical, and I was dying laughing. She’s ridiculous.
Sorry for not posting about the topic….I just wanted to say Hiiiiii Cassie!!!!!
Remi is pretty picky…he doesn’t eat half the bunny food we try to give him, much less human food haha. All my bunnies LOOOOVE bananas though! Although Peppy loves bunny food, she doesn’t show much interest in human food…Milo, however, will try to eat whatever we’re having, including beer…he loves the smell!
Cassi, hilarious picture!! Love how he’s standing on the plate, haha.
Chacha, I think our buns are siblings from another species. My bun will only take romaine, cilantro, and one day, I got the regular parsley and she didnt take it and I didnt know why!! Then I figured out that it wasnt the Italian! Beast. Part of me thinks that the only reason she ate the celery last night (her first taste of it ever) was because it was in the way of her real food… then again, I didnt actually see her eat the celery so who knows what actually happened to it.
Emkvet– squash?? your bunny would do well with my family!! There are probably 5 different kinds of squash still in the kitchen that need to be used.
They both are total thieves. We do pretty good about keeping clean, but we can’t have popcorn movie night without being trampled by bunnies, and I’ve had Samson completely sneak up on me (sitting on the floor) dive into the cheese it box, grab on and run for the hills. Then when I try to get it back, she growls at me, little stinker.
Tipsy Bunny – Yes, squash! Buns love it, and it’s on the approved food list too!
Eddie snatched a chicken nugget off my plate. Yes. A chicken nugget. I honest to God screeched “Eddie! What the he**?! YOU’RE NOT A CARNIVORE!!!!” and snatched it back before he could do anything. He also liked wontons. And popcorn. He dumped a bowl of popcorn all over us by putting his paws on the rim of the bowl to get to the popcorn. Let’s see, he managed to eat some bagel through the plastic bag. Same with potatoes. Who would think a rabbit would eat potatoes? In the kitchen. With a linoleum floor which he HATED. And yes, this is probably caused his huge blockage.
Lolli always thinks she likes my food but rarely does. Her newest bunny crack is Life cereal. I was laying on my stomach in her room with the bowl in front of me. I was eating it dry as a snack and she snatched a piece before I could stop her. Instant bunny crack. Sigh.
Love the sandwich bunny pic!!!
Olivia is a total sweet nut. If I’m eating anything sweet while she’s out she will come hound me. She’s stolen licorice and bites of popsicles. If she’s out after we’ve watched a movie (and before I vacuum) she goes around the coffee table looking for chip crumbs.
I had a dish of my vegan sweet potato banana casserole on my floor one day, and left it for a couple seconds to grab my anatomy book. Came back up, and Navi had her face in my bowl >.< fortunately, all the ingredients are safe for her to eat, but I had to clean sweet potato out of her beard
Generally my two aren’t interested in human food – Otto runs for it like it’s poison. One day though, he jumped on the couch while I was eating cornflakes, so I held the bowl out and let him sniff. Instead of running away, he grabbed a cornflake right out of the milk. lol I let him have a few nibbles before I took it away.
Hannah doesn’t seem interested in people food, but if you leave the craisin bag on the floor she will grab it and run off with it. DH almost couldn’t catch her the other day.
Umm, yes. Anything I eat, if it touches the floor at all, becomes bunny bait. I have to race them to any dropped food to keep the bad stuff away from them. lol And boyfriend was drinking tea one day while sitting in the floor and he wasn’t paying attention, so Powder came over and stuck his head right in the cup, but when he felt the cold wet hit his face he freaked and we ended up having to clean a whole cup of tea out of the (off white) carpet. Luckily it was sugarless.
So far Momo has not shown any interest in human food. But you are not allowed to eat pears, apples, or bananas in my house unless you give her some, her rule not mine. One time I laid on the floor and shared an apple with her, she kept trying to take the whole thing from me.
Lis – vegan sweet potato banana casserole…sounds delicious! No wonder Navi wanted to try it so much, I’d probably try to steal it too!
JG – Hello! I needed a strong dose of bunny cuteness…so here I am again
I’m pretty good about not letting Penelope and Thumper get any of my food, but one time I accidentally dropped a McDonald’s frenchfry and it was gone before I could even move to attempt to pick it up! Ever since, I have to be extra careful around Penelope – she knows the smell! And it’s only McDonalds fries too! One time I was watching my cousins kid and she dropped some french fries (bagged frozen type) and Penelope snubbed them! Silly rabbit
Nava is a good bunny and doesnt steal from me… but my rats on the other hand. I found out I can’t eat dinner with either of my males or females rats free.
My old rat Rags has stolen veggie sausages from me (that’s like rat catnip, I swear. They love veggie sausages).
Rosco stole a whole ear of corn from me, and it was bigger then him so he went running down my bed trying to carry it.
Once a friend slept over and we were eating oreos. I kept hearing the bag rustling, and I thought nothing of it. I then turned to see Rosco running off my bed, then he came back. Come to find out he was storing oreos under my bed. -_-
Last night Bug JUMPED onto my table. He actually launched himself up onto my table next to my bed to steal my pizza…
And all of my rats are guilty for stealing lollipops (one night everyone had a lolly, and I never even buy lollipops…). They also go crazy for other candies like Candy Canes, anything chocolate and tart type candies. I found a candycane in my bed a few nights ago…
Then the funniest thievery I think, has to be the taco. I make these vegetarian tacos and they are just the best things to ever grace this planet. My rats (specially Rosco) LOVE them. Well, I had a folded up ferret cage under my bed before my bed sat on the floor. The rats used to store food on it for some reason. One day I was cleaning and I pulled it out. Not only was there cheerios and fruitloops on top of the cage, there was also an open taco shell. It looks like he hate all the tomato, cheese, and fake meat out of it and just left bits of the shell.
Huckleberry once snatched a pizza bone from a plate and got a good chunk down before I could catch her. Ever since then, she has been OBSESSED with pizza. She will be in my lap trying to take a bite while I do. We finally had to just start locking her up when we order out.
Its funny that I saw this topic today because earlier I had a burrito on a plate on the coffee table. I crossed the apartment to get a pop from the fridge and when I turned around I saw tail giggles bounding off the couch and my burrito was gone. BF saw it and try to get it away from her and they actually had a short tug-of-war over it. I gave her some lettuce and she ate it, very disapprovingly, while I ate a chewed burrito (it’s finals week, it was the first food I had had all day, I didn’t care how gross it was)
love all the stores and the hilarious pic with the sandwich!
Vicky acts duly insulted if I offer a plate of food for her to sniff. Even with bunny foods she acts like a snob and will spend 10 minutes licking and sampling it before taking a bite!
Roger on the other hand will eat ANYTHING. He once hopped onto my shoulder during a movie and would snipe pieces of popcorn out of my hand as I tried to put them into my mouth. He also once raided a bag of twizzlers and when I yelled “HEY!” at him he started hopping away with it in his mouth with this super long twizzler trailing behind him. He also got into my housemate’s purse once and chewed through a plastic bag to access some crackers.
