At our local grocery store they carry some dried organic dried fruits and veggies, that have nothing extra in them. Huey loves the banana’s and the pinapple, I was just wondering if it’s okay to use these as “snacks”. I liked them better then some of the other dried fruits and stuff I’ve seen because they dont have anything extra no sugars or anything. I also was told that pinapple is good for their digestion is that just fresh pinapple? Huey wont eat much fresh anything unless it’s leafy and green other wise he polietly grunts and pushes it aside. Anyway I’d appriciate any insight on the issue, thanks so much!

as long as they are approved for rabbits to be given in their fresh form- it is fine to give dried treats.  I dehydrated some papaya for my buns- I cubed it all- and then put it in my dehydrator.  I offered some fresh cubes of papaya- but all 3 refused, but when I give the dried cubes- they will eat those.

I have also given dried blueberries and bananas.  Just keep in mind that the serving should be smaller than as if it were fresh- even with the moisture content gone I would assume there are the same amount of natural sugars.

Dried cranberries are the only treat I can give Steve that doesn’t make his poop soft.  My foster rabbits go bonkers for them too.

Dried are totally fine -and the great news is they keep a long time. I keep raisins, craisins and banana chips in a tin for treats. They are more healthy then manufactured pet treats too. Just remember that each peice of dried fruit is much smaller then the fresh fruit but has just as much sugar-so small amounts to keep their GI healthy but they are great treats!
