OK, this is completely off topic but i couldnt help asking…

So I was watching TV last night with a nice chunk of chocolate and glass of wine (naughty me! I don’t even drink as a rule but someone bought me a bottle of my FAV wine and I just couldn’t resist) anyway stop rambling Kimberley… I was watching this program on UFO’s it was a really good documentary, it was basically put on because of all this news about that guy who filmed an alien outside his window, it talked about how people see these things and always try to disprove them, but there are ancient pictures from hundreds and hundreds of years ago where there are UFOs drawn in the background in the exact shape we imagine them now, it talked about the betty and barney hill story which I find fascinating and I was just wondering if anyone else here finds this stuff interesting or am I about to be carted off to the Looney bin? Hehe I have never really been interested in it but that documentary intrigued me completely it was brilliant, what are your guys opinions? Interesting? Stupid? Fake?

I tend to lean towards cautious but curious where UFOs are concerned. I believe that their are things out there that we don’t understand. I take every story with a grain of salt, but situations where people have good photographs and other forms of physical evidence should be investigated seriously.

it is a possiblitty.  the universe is huge beyond our comprehension.  I have read that the mayan their drawings were. and how did the pyramids get built?  also there is this book ohhh   Chariots of ? Fire I think    chariots of ?   darn I can’t remember for sure that last word it is based on ufo’s and bible   stories too. explaining about the stairs that Ezekial climbed into heaven with could have been a ladder going up into a UFO  and such things. eye opening. very good book.  I wouldnt’ midnd reading it agian to remember it all I saw this documentary on bigfoot where these guys went to this island place in canada and stayed in this cabin and that bigfoot supposedly they threw rocks at the cabin   well was seemingly so fake to me     could very well have been the seeds and pinecones falling off the trees onto the cabin since was a noise at random so I got a good laugh at that one. however anything is likely. the so called rock throwing was not consistent. more like seeds and pinecones falling ahaa

I have always been extremely cautious regarding accounts, pictures and video of UFO’s but I do find them facinating! I do believe that Roswell really did happen and that since then, the US military have been developing their own flying machines based on what they found in New Mexico. I think that a lot of what is seen in the skies these days is really domestic testing of secret aircraft.

But you always have to keep an open mind. Think about our solar system – 9 planets that revolve around the sun. We all know that the sun is actually our closest star, so when you look up in the sky on a clear night and see the trillions of stars that exist, you have to wonder – how many planets revolve around each one of those stars? And out of all those planets, is there life on at least one of them? I think the chances are extremely high that there is “life” out there, and why wouldn’t they come to check us out?

Hee hee, I undulged in my favourite white zinfandel last night….!

I’ll keep you company too. I actually think it makes more sense to assume there IS life on other planets than that there isn’t. I think our own planet is so teeming with species of all different kinds, and then variations on those, that why wouldn’t there be more out there too?

I am not sure how we’d ascertain that those life forms use technology (spaceships) and have similarities to humans (until we all encounter them ourselves). I mean, there could be some really brilliant aliens that look like amoebas or Holland Lops. Unlikely to be air-breathing, need the same temperatures and drink water. (Wine maybe…LOL) I’m betting that “Men in Black” is closer to the truth than “Star Trek.” Well, I’m not too proud of the way humans are displaying their supposed intelligence, so it wouldn’t surprise me if we were visited, studied, aliens noticed our wars and reality game shows, and decided – Yuck. Who needs them.

i too always take it with a pinch of salt, i dont like to believe in aliens because i am much more of a ‘i need to see it to believe it kind of person’ (not that i want to be visited thanks *nervous laugh* anyway…) so it goes against my way of thinking but i think there must be something somewhere living and i would imagine there has to be someone who is more advance than us so why couldnt they come visit us? im not sure i belive all this stuff that that stan bloke is saying, basically he reckons he filmed an alien peeping into his window because he had heard someone snooping round his house and thought it was a man spying on his teenage daughters and he apparently caught an alien on film, (ps. he hasnt released the video to the public yet because MUFON is analysing it so any you find on youtube are fake) so i think either he is faking it or we are just not ready to accept that kind of evidence lol

ok….this is a short story but true. When I was 17 I lived on a farm with mom,dad,brother and 2 sisters in southern Indiana. My sisters,brother and I were coming in from the barn about 8:00pm (doing chores)…mom n dad not home yet. We noticed some headlights coming down the hillside behind the barn and knew that there is no road up there. we stood still in uter amazement as this thing that looked like the millanum fallcon(sp) came down the hillside and floated right over our heads. It made no sound and was only about 30 feet over us. It never stopped and just keep right on going. I will never forget it and I thank God nothing happened to any of us.

Thanks K&D, those were 2 pictures I never saw before with ufo’s in them. I have seen the ancient ones that look like men with clear helmets, flying chariots etc.

I tend to believe we are not alone and should not be surprised at what comes by. A friend of a friend (I know, I know) believes she has been abducted. She cannot stand all the pictures and junk depicting the greys, it gets her very upset and depressed. But as my paranormal hunts have proved…many unexplained events really do have a very real and mundane causes. But there are always the ones that cannot be explained away. LOL like my sceptical bf’s week long battle with our deceased neighbor not allowing him to lock up. And I am sure that there were no weather balloon back when those painting were created.

I like Kitsufox’s viewpoint myself…yes there are so many things to think about as possibilities, I don’t want to be so close minded that I pigeonhole myself and don’t learn anything new, but I like the Harold Stone quote. It’s so true! ^_^ I’ve had times in my life where I have definitely left some grey matter dribbling on the floor, so…. 0_o;
That being said, it is in this day and age that it is harder to believe anything one sees second-hand (so many things can be created to look like something it’s not) or even as eyewitness accounts. My son and hubby go out at night in winter (which is almost all day long at one point) and watch the ‘funny stars’ that seem to zip back and forth across the sky, MANY miles higher than our planes and satellites. Then of course, I was a huge Coast To Coast AM fan for many years (Art bell’s radio program) and there were so many things one could just go off about to the point of freaking myself out. I wound up having to just turn the radio off. lolz….

So who knows? Some folks are of the mind that if it’s not in the King James or Darwin’s Theory it doesn’t exist. But just suppose the whole sum of history that we’ve acquired to date is simply not ‘the whole story?’
And oh yes, I am a die hard Trekkie too, so don’t think I haven’t DREAMED of going to space and seeing if they’re REALLY ‘out there’.

As far as being carried off by the nice men in the white suits? Hey, fine with me. A nice quiet room and bed and three steady meals a day that I have to eat with a spoon? *giggle*
Of course, my bunnies must come with. (They could be the aliens, you know!)

i cant wait to see the documentary on that guy who says he had filmed an alien outside his window, i have been looking on his website and he says that there is other footage which he has taken which shows aliens in a way which leaves NO doubt to their exsistance and that even HE didnt think he had really shot that. The expert who analysed the film did say it had all been taken in one shot (because of the way the film was or something) and that the object was definatly outside the window and that there were no other shadows to suggest anyone else was there and all this stuff, so we will just have to wait and see!

There are actually hundreds of those pictures, from thousands of years ago, there are even drawings in stone done by cave men showing objects in the sky which are exactly the same shape and design that we imagine them now, they are amazing pictures.

I grew up in the Hudson River valley in New York which was a hotspot for UFO activity in the 70’s. I had seen some things that could have been UFO’s (not normal lights for planes) but I’ll say I dunno.

However, my one irrational fear IS alien abduction. The thought that something could beam you up from your car, probe you anally and then drop you back down onto Earth with no knowledge of this happening freaks me out. And what freaks me out even more is that it could have already happened to me and I’d have no idea!

Murkusdark, the Hudson Valley is a great spot for all sorts of paranormal activity. If I remember correctly the big black out in the late sixties was attributed by some to ufo activity.

A couple of questions keep popping to mind, and I thought I’d mention them.

First, what is an alien, who’s so sophisticated that it can use a spaceship, doing peeping into a man’s window? (I haven’t watched the video yet so maybe I misunderstood his encounter.)

Second, if they made themselves known to us several thousand years ago, and ever since, why the big secret? They are spotted in the sky, they abduct people, they are discussed and investigated, (I doubt we can turn a nuclear warhead on all of them and not miss) so what’s taken so long to be up front about it?

BTW: I definitely think there are “hotspots” globally for a variety of unexplained activities. My favorite are the crop circles.

I’ll jump in now. Have to say I’ve always been fascinated, but skeptical. Some things are just beyond explanation for sure!!

However, the tales of abduction (sleeping in your room, taken aboard blah blah) are easily explained by a common sleep disorder (that I suffered from several times as a child) where you wake up, but not fully, while still paralysed (you are paralysed in REM sleep) and you are soooo full of fear (part of the disorder and being paralysed from the neck down) and you are still slightly dreaming, with lights and figures. It’s quite common and if you dont’ know you have it and you believe, then of course that’s what you think it is.

But I definitely watch those shows and holy heck hey? So much stuff just beyond explanation!! Tracy-amazing story!!

Rabbitpam – i think the general idea is that they dont actually come and talk to us because they are observing our way of life and if they were to land there would be uproar and they could no longer observe our natural activity but its a good point, if they had been observing us for so many thousands of years havent they had enough yet and wanted to see our reaction to them being here? The video hasnt actually been released yet (there are plenty of fakes floating around youtube) so until it is no-one can really make an opinion but i think the general idea is that it was faked although a video specialist has said this is unlikely. So we will have to wait and see about the documentary he releases and then make up our minds.

K&K – i to am skeptical, i like to listen to peoples accounts however i have yet to find one i actually believe apart from the betty and barney hill story there are many things about that which are still so questionned that i cant dismiss it as untrue, for example she was apparently shown a map by one alien and under hypnosis drew the map, the map was of a star formation which wasnt discovered for 10 years after she drew it and it was drawn exactly as it is in real life, how did she know that? so thats probably my fav story but yes im with u i think 99% of things im skeptical on because they can be easily explained, that sleep thing must have been scary how did u cope with that?
