I got some baby powder with organic edible cornstarch and organic lavender essential oil the only two ingredients. I wanted to apply some to the comb or brush and work it through my bunny’s knotted mats of fur as Dana Krempels wrote that cornstarch babypowder that was talc-free could be used as a lubricant to dissolve hair mats.  Anybody have any experience with organic oil of lavender?  Lavender, wasn’t mentioned on the lists of plants toxic to bunnies I checked – 2 or 3,  but  I want to be extra cautious and would feel better if anyone  who’s used it can relate their experience using the stuff  Thanks!

Lavender is not a toxic plant but the trouble is that oil of lavender would be highly concentrated and possibly irritating a rabbit’s nose. I would never use any scented products on or around animals personally because they would be amplified in their olefactory system. It would like for a human to be walking into a perfume store and having to stay there for a long time with all the bottles opened… (does this analogy make sense?)

It makes very good sense! Or like walking into a perfume shop that has a lot of dead skunks lying around the floor…! I was concerned about the same thing…oh, well, I can always keep the powder handy if a baby comes over! lol Thanks for sharing your point of view.

              Cute avatar!

You could try pure cornstarch from the grocery store if you have doubts about the lavendar.

edit: You could use the powder for yourself maybe. RabbitPam was saying that cornstarch feels nice.

Thankyou, Jerseygirl I will try pure edible cornstarch instead. I’d think that is the chief ingredient Dana Krempels was advocating, don’t know why she said it should be in talc-free cornstarch baby powder… Thanks for the compliment on little Dusty! I mean, Dustor.
