For me it’s been a sort of revenge (cackles wildly).
For years I had to listen to all my relatives, coworkers, and some friends about their children – talk about poop conversation downers!
I can’t have kids, so it often made me sad. Was polite, sympathetic, yadda yadda.

                  Then I got a bunny….

                  ….now I’m jonesing for mini-rex fur…

rabbitpam those are my thoughts exactly!  i don’t have kids & even at 37 i still think it’s a possibility but it depends on finding the right man so who knows…  anyways, i have also sat through many a ‘baby poop’ conversation and giggled at cute kid stories with my friends so when i sense my bunny stories aren’t being well received the first thing i say is “hey… they’re my fur babies & i dote on them”   people like talking about the things in their lives that bring them the most joy.

i have to watch my tongue because i find that all too often i start a sentence with “this person on the rabbit forum…” or “i read on the rabbit forum…”  now, i don’t mind that people know i hang out here BUT starting every sentence that way tends to give the impression that i do nothing else with my life.  haha.

                        lol@kimberly

I have to be really careful. When I get up in the morning, I force myself to hug and kiss hubby before going to see bunny. I am not a morning person, but I go on auto pilot, “I gotto feed Holly.” Now, I tried to reprogram to “I gotta seee hubby, and then I gotta feed Holly.” LOL

Today at work, someone asked me about Holly. I had fun telling her about her, but she probably thinks I’m nuts. I said, people talk about their kids, dogs, and cats. Right now Holly is that for me.

Holly, I have trouble realizing that most of my coworkers are just being polite when they ask about my bun….at the very least they don’t want the blow by blow of every binky. As for the boy friend, I have to stand in line for a kiss after the dogs and cats and bun. But hey, that is what happens when 2 animal lovers collide.

House rabbits aren’t very big in Australia yet, so all my friends/relos think I’m a weirdo for having a rabbit inside. They can’t believe he is litter trained. I love telling everyone about him because I feel I am educating people that rabbits are not stupid, furry things to be kept cooped up in a hutch at the back of the yard.

Jyka’s comment made me want to tell you this….

Everyone does seem to think its nuts to have an inside rabbit…but i thought it was hilarious when i told a 4 year old today that i had a bunny….and she said “INSIDE????!!!!”

haha…yes, yes, inside, right where she belongs!

Good to see the next generation will be well informed about bunnies! My dream is to see the humble bunny take the place of the cat as most popular house pet.
