There is the most adorable little grey and white dutch/lionhead mix bun at my local Pet(store).

Originally, there was a smallish brown bun, very nondescript. Then this one came in with two other dutch/lionhead/enlgish spot buns (one black and white, one brown and white). Very tiny. Precious.

The others, today, are gone. This poor little one is in there all alone. I thought it was the cutest, why didn’t it go first?

This one is the last. It caught my eye right off the bat, but with the difficulty I’ve had bonding Mimzy and Pip (plus we have too many pets as it is) I just can’t think of bringing it home.

Plus I don’t want to encourage the Pet(store) to keep selling buns.

Plus the hubby will say no.

Plus I really have enough work with the two I’ve got.

        Plus….

(erm, come on folks, help me think of reasons to say no!)

But I feel so sorry for it. How could they leave it all by itself? WHY WHY WHY do people do this??

Well, this is a decision obviously only you can make, and we all know your bunnies have a great life. One thing to consider is that there is no guarantee that your bunnies will get along with this one. You have to prepare yourself for bonding issues, separate cages, and poop wars.

If you decide it’s just too much, but you really feel for this bunny, and want the best care, you can always see how the pet store educates and see if they would be open to learning if they are way off base.

If it came in with the other 2, it really hasn’t been there very long. It’s probably saying “now I can stretch out comfortably, and that pig who kept pushing me away from the food is gone. Yea!”

I think it will be better off, possibly, than the other two, since we all know how hard it is to have two bunnies that aren’t necessarily bonded yet. This little guy is cute and healthy, so…

Some lucky bunny mom is about to have a brand new wonderful life with this cutie for years and years. You already have two – share the love.

Can’t think of anything else. I went to a pet store last weekend just to get a bunny fix. Held two cuties, gave them head pets. Got a butt from the first one when I put her down to hold the other, but when petted, she turned around pretty fast. The other one wanted more too, so he put his face next to hers so I could do both at once. I’m so frustrated with my job for not deciding if I can work there full time in the fall, so I can plan on getting an apartment and a NEW BUNNY. So, someone like me, who loves grey ones, might be stepping in the door this afternoon.

Yeah, I was thinking that, “Wow, now this one is ‘showcased’, so to speak, so hopefully someone good for bunnies will come along and give this little cutie a home. I see an awful lot of rowdy kids go in there with their parents though, and I just get heartsick thinking that some dumb grown-up will cave and give their kid a bun just to shut him up…bad for kid and VERY bad for bun!

I whispered to the little dutchie before I left the store though, “Bye for now sweetie, I hope you find an awesome home!” It just kind of looked at me through sleepy eyes…totally touching! ^_^ I would completely vote for you to pick it up, rabbitpam, if you were anywhere near me!

As far as education, I think most people who work for this store need to get a general one first. I don’t think most of them can spell their own name with their eyes closed much less understand how to properly care for this poor creature until it is rescued. I have tried. You can see it just gets tuned out.
Plus, this was the store that I posted about that grooms the animals, and there was that bratty little kid in line who was kicking the cat in it’s carrier around at the check-out line and the mom was just blatantly ignoring the whole thing. I was so stunned I couldn’t think of anything smart to say to take her and her brat down a peg or two.

I had to go in there though, as I needed a spare bale of timmy hay to hold the buns over till my next BinkyBox arrives. They sell the pellets, but not the hay at my grocery store, so….

And talk about poor living conditions for ferrets! *cries* Good grief they’re packed into one of those snake tanks like sardines! I feel so sorry for them!
Thank God there’s no puppies or kitties there, I already have a hard enough time holding my temper.
