I met a lady at the humane society she volunteers.  I filled out the volunteer form.  The lady and I shared phone #’s and we talked and I mean talked 2 hrs on the phone today.

She told me some things not so nice about our humane society.  Like once the buns went 4 days without eating. Well…anyhoo there are meetings to be held about this humane society.  We in this country are trying to get it to become a no kill shelter.  It is the only one in brevard county that is not a no kill shelter..

I guess I will be going to the meeting too.  Getting involved and hopefully volunteering too.  We live pretty close to each other so now I have transportation to get there to volunteer if our hours are the same. If not hubby can fish at the end of the road there. Gosh what a great day Friday was.

I will never ever bring an animal there. No way. But anyways I am waiting for my phone call to go through orientation.  Plus the new friend I made was taking all 6 of the buns home to foster.  We plan on meeting over dinner one nite. I  am so excited about this.

I have been wanting to volunteer for quite some time but the transportation was an issue. Well when hubby goes away it is. But not  anymore.

Congrats on starting volunteering!! You’ll have to keep us posted on how it goes!

On the no-kill thing its pretty controversial. I always thought no kill was great and really it seems terrible to have to euthanize for space, but our big shelter here went no kill and everyone thought that was fantastic; BUT now they don’t take strays…strays go to the pound and if unclaimed are euthanized there instead…Our shelter takes only owner-relinguished pets, you pay them to take your pet, and people pay a fairly large adoption fee; and yets thousands of pets are euthanized at the pound instead…

Ohhh thats how it works.  I guess they get euthanized somewhere if our shelter goes to no kill here too. Just can’t avoid it seems like. It is a sad thing.  We can only do so much.

My friend told me sometimes they just throw the apps away and also they don’t even call for the orientation.  Well…. I can call them to check with them.

One lady I know from there that is an employee said they really needed help.  She is a nice lady.  I see her come to pick up the coons my neighbor traps.  They get in our garbage and fight with the our unit cat for food.

I met her when I called about a hurt possum.  She came and picked him up. We talked a bit. I like her she is nice. You know I suppose the other employee or 2 with the attitude probably seen so much and that may be their way of coping.  Or maybe those 2 are just ornery who knows.

anyhoo let me go call here shortly.

I volunteered at an animal shelter for a number of months. I couldn’t take the negligence and I burned out. I complained to the SPCA about things I saw there. By law, they have to look into it. I don’t know what happened, but I am for sure not welcome at that animal shelter any more. I thought it more important to get the SPCA to check on them periodically.
