It is now officially the month of Candy, Costumes and pretty leaves!  October is a busy month for us, with birthdays and pet gotcha days. Moxie’s gotcha day is tomorrow and I’m heading off to the store now to go buy stuff for her.

Yesterday was our first day of ACTUAL fall weather, and we got rain…although I don’t know if the rain will last for very long (and gosh do we need it). But still, IT WAS RAIN! lol I’m also looking for a French Lop to adopt come November or December since Luna is getting spayed the 13th (I’m really freaking out about it tbh ?), and I have room for one more bun until they can get bonded sooooooo. Plus, I finally worked my rescue mare for the first time since last fall, and the time off was really good for her. She needed that time to get comfortable with the herd and finally get a brain in her skull. I took her for a hike and even while all of her buddies were screaming and running around in their pasture she stayed fairly level headed and only jumped once or twice. All of those times last fall/winter where I would take her out and ONLY work on her dropping her head really paid off. She’d jump a touch and then a slight gesture/feather light feel on the rope and her head would drop down by her knees or hooves (When a horse drops their head it releases a hormone that helps them calm down and relax…or so I’ve been told. I have found that encouraging a low headset helps keep a horse calm) so I’m really happy with where she’s at mentally, and maybe I’ll be able to start her under saddle soon!!!

Ha ha, thanks for all of the “Happy gotcha day”s. I’ll of had her for 2 years tomorrow, and I can’t believe how quickly time is flying by! My dog Snickers’ gotcha day is the 16th, I’ll of had her for 4 years. I can still remember the day I brought them each home and I can’t believe how much they have grown! =)

As for toys I only bought a wooden chewable ball thing. I was a little hesitant to purchase it because the company that made it sells stuff that isn’t so good for rabbits (like seed + honey treats) But it looked okay. Our local stores have horrible selections for toys and treats for birds/rabbits/guinea pigs/hamsters ect. It really makes me sad. If you have a dog our cat or horse there are wide selections of toys and treats that are good for them (even though there are some not-so-good ones) and you can just walk in and pick one out. For rabbits here, you have to order online and wait 10-12 buisness days if you don’t want to pay $25 dollars in overnight shipping. =/

But I did buy some of Moxie’s favorite fruits and veggies to make her some special treats.

abh— So glad you guys got some rain!

I was looking at the Halloween costumes and there’s nothing there really I want to dress up as. I mean the part of the pirate costume you think is an eye patch isn’t, it’s the top! LOL. I just don’t look good in that kind of stuff. Plus I wanted to do a matching or themed costume with my dog. Snickers is a girl and about 6.5 pounds if anybody has any ideas! I didn’t really want to do a wizard of oz theme, like her being toto, but if there’s no other choice I guess that’s what I’ll have to do!

I can’t believe it’s October already…out of nowhere, it feels like Fall here today! I’m loving it! Long sleeves and leggings and boots. Yes. This weekend is a flea market/festival in town here and my mom and I have a booth reserved for our skincare business, so I’m pretty excited about that…my best friend is a massage therapist and she’s going to setup her massage chair in the tent with us and we’ll have mini spa treatments for new customers. Can’t wait!

abh, so glad you got a little rain! Hopefully more will come!

So for those of you who remember, the last treats I made Moxie not too long ago, she hated. But the ones I made today, she can’t get enough of! The difference? More fruits (AKA it’s sweeter and more unhealthy lol!)

I’ll give you all the recipe I made up in case anybody wants to try to make some.

1 cup pellets from the bottom of the bag (so a mix of crushed pellets and whole but it doesn’t really matter)
2 cups hot water (not too hot! I just used tap water, but ours gets pretty hot)
1 1/2 cups hay “dust” (the chaff at the bottom of the bag. Mine was so crushed it was literally like powder!)*
1 small/medium banana, mashed (it ended up being between 1/4 and 1/2 a cup mashed)
1 6 ounce jar of your bun’s favorite baby food. I used pear and blueberry, it’s the only one she will touch!
I also had like one tsp of honey in the bottom of the bottle so I mixed a little warm water into it to get it out and put that in too, but it is not necessary at all!

I mixed the hot water and pellets together until it was like a paste. I know it looks like all that water won’t mix in but it will! It just takes a few minutes of working it in. (you could also let it sit for a minute to absorb some of the water if you don’t want to mix it that much). I then mixed the banana, babyfood and honey water in. I then baked them for a while at no particular temperature (our oven is broken so only broil works at the moment).

*You can use regular hay but I’d chop it up first with scissors. Long strands of hay can prevent the cookie from sticking together good.

PLEASE NOTE— That these cookies are high in sugar (I’d assume) so should only be given occasionally as TREATS!!!

OMG, I’m so tired. I wanted/needed to sleep in this morning but the dog was whining at 8am. So yeah, that’s how much I slept in. =\ We have to let her out, otherwise she’ll pee on the floor. *sigh* The struggles of having a 17 year old dog. There is a new rule where she has to be let out before we leave. Doesn’t matter if she was just out. We’ve come home to surprises way too many times.

**Quick update from South Carolina**

We are currently still under heavy rainfall and flooding.  A good portion of the area is shut down and curfews have been in effect for several hours now due to conditions.  Some rivers and ditches are flooded worse than I’ve seen in the last 20 years, but people are taking it in stride.  MegaBunny and I are down here and doing good.  We’re safe and from what I have seen people haven’t been too stupid with the weather; just the usual pulling boats through parking lots. lol

Anyway;  I know I’m still not on much but just wanted to pop on while we still have good signal and let people know we’re okay.  I don’t forsee losing connection now that I have back up and a hot-spot phone, but you never know so I thought I’d say hi.

Dunny, Tilly, and Zoey are also safe and dry inside.

I know you guys are getting worse than us in Virginia. We live out in the country and live in constant threat of losing our power on nice days. Our road is gravel and mostly washed out too so I’m sure a real storm and we would have been stuck for a few days. Time to get a vehicle with 4 wheel drive.

We were in the ER all night with my sister. from 8 PM until 2:30 AM, another 30 minutes to get home, Snickers peed in her kennel so I had to bathe her when I got home ect. And I had to get up at 7 am this morning. So yeah, I am totally exhausted! lol
But the doctors said everything looked okay, but to make a doctors appointment.

But I just want to say how much I hate that hospital. Once I had a family member with a broken bone and they misread the x-ray and said it was just sprained. Sent them away with no cast, brace or pain meds >=/ They STINK to say the very least. They also have a dentist office there that’s in a building not attached to the “main” hospital. Every time I have gone there they injure me somehow. Once I got a bruise on my face plus they have never given me enough numbing medicine when they were filling my cavities. Anybody you ask who lives around here will say they stink.
Hope it’s alright to voice my opinion/rant. If it’s not okay just let me know and I’ll erase it. I think I’m still a little annoyed from the 6 1/2 hour wait.

Oh no, Moxie, hope your sister is okay!

Things are going fine out here. I have been *crazy* busy! I feel bad, as I haven’t even had a lot of time to spend with my bunnies. Sigh.

They are still not bonded. I am beginning to wonder if they ever will be. Lately my thing has been marathon bonding sessions–today they did about 10 hours together. Most of it in their little box, where they don’t fight. Then I tried to put them in the pen (not the full pen, just a small area), and that had quite a few little tussles. Only one really bad one, but still. It’s like I think we’re making progress but really it’s just staying the same level of toleration/thinly-veiled hatred. I don’t know what to do to get them over that bump and into actually liking each other.

My boyfriend thinks I should get rid of Fíli and try to get another bunny that will get along with Pippin. (He doesn’t like Fíli at all.) Obviously, that is NOT going to happen! He doesn’t really get it, but bonded or not, Fíli and Pippin are both my bunnies. I know you guys know what I mean! Anyway, we did walk through the bunny center and there were some totally adorable and sweet bunnies there, including a bonded pair that were just too cute. I know I’m way too busy and it’s not practical to consider going to 4 bunnies (in 3 separate areas), but it’s fun to dream!

Moxie – we have a questionable hospital here as well. When I was younger, I hurt my ankle but was told it was only a sprain. It was actually broken, and because it was not treated properly, I ended up needing reconstructive surgery on my ankle a few years later. Also, my mom went in with a leg injury. They said it was fine. At the doctors the next day, she found out she had 7 fractures. How do you miss that?!

Ugh, these bunnies are getting to smart for me. One of the cats was coming out through the gate on the kitchen door. Annie tried sneaking out under the cat! Oy. Lol

I haven’t been on much other then the occasional glance through at the forum. I finally had my surgery for the gallbladder several weeks ago, I am doing fine, just figuring out how much I can eat at one time that doesn’t send my system running me to the bathroom. On, another note, my fiancee’s mom was in the hospital and I’m pretty pissed at the hospital due to level of care and them discharging her with orders to go to your family doctor, set up this test and oh so sorry about the arm that is twice the normal size it should be ( she has already dislocated it, so hoping that it didn’t pop out of place during something in the hospital, because the next step the ortho said if it did pop out of socket again was surgery). So I know how you feel Moxie, there seems to be a lot of sucky hospitals all over the place.

Pretty much, it has been quiet, except for adding in a new baby bun and thankfully, it hasn’t set off our bonded pair here, they are just super curious with the new bun and trying to limit contact so that no one gets in any trouble.

Tonight was the British Bake Off Final! It wasn’t as tense as last year, but the season as a whole has been. Won’t spoil it except to say that the person I wanted to win did!

Sad that it won’t be on for nearly a year. Just one extra slice episode left.

The apprentice starts next week, but I don’t like Alan Sugar so much.

Still alive! And still in Florida. .

I don’t see how people work in the medical field. Just playing nurse to one person is so tiring. I have to check on her meds 4x a day to make sure she took them, her insulin 4x a day to make sure she took that, help her plan her meals because she’s diabetic and can’t figure out how many carbs she is eating, help her clean up the house, help her exercise to try to increase muscle strength. If her sugar drops, I have to help her get it back up so she doesn’t slip into a coma. I have to check her glucose 5x a day and her blood pressure 3x a day. Adjust medications as needed. It’s so exhausting, physically and mentally, being that responsible for another person (and if *I* mess up, I could kill her.. I have to decide if her heart rate is OK for one med, or it can stop the heart and her insulin has air bubbles that if you miss getting them all out you end up injecting it into the blood and if I mess up her food/insulin ratio I can crash her into a diabetic coma… aaaaah). I ended up buying microwave pasta to eat because after the day is over with her, I don’t feel like trying to cook anything for myself. lol Not very healthy, but whatever.

On top of all that, her cat is sick, so I have to give him antibiotics 2x a day orally. First two days he was OK, today he started clawing me for it. *sigh* He’s leukemia and herpes positive, so we have to be careful with him. Supposedly they carry more bacteria than a normal healthy cat and if they bite you, it’s a higher risk of infection. She’s already vulnerable to infection through her health issues. So, I am left sitting on the cat to dose him because I don’t want her to get bitten trying to help and he -mostly- can’t bite/scratch me that way. I wish you could just explain to a cat that you are trying to HELP. I just want him to stop having a snotty nose and a fever. Really, that’s all, I promise it’s not torture, silly cat.

And then my mom’s job ended up working her 60-70 hours per week… so she was never home. I ended up having to dog sit her blind chihuahua who can’t eat on her own (she has to be guided to the food bowl and guarded so the other dogs don’t steal it since she can’t defend herself). 17 years old, blind, can’t smell very well, can’t hear much of anything and still going strong anyway. Devours her soft food and barks like she’s going to eat anyone if the great dane starts barking (she can hear that big mouth). She still wants to be a guard dog, even though she has no idea what the barking is over. Poor little thing. Right now she’s asleep curled up on a pillow.

So, full plate! Hope everyone’s October is going well so far. I want to catch up on the thread, but it’s already past bed time and I have to get up early for her breakfast + meds + exercise. So ((((VIBES)))) to any who need it and take care guys!

I attempted to make my sister a birthday cake (our birthdays are only a few days apart) but it turned out horrible. =^/ It doesn’t taste horrible but it LOOKS horrible, and I am so scared to show it to her. It’s a 4 layer cake and the frosting wasn’t holding together well because it was mixed with whipped cream because nobody in our family likes “thick” frosting… This is a milestone birthday and I feel so terrible. I spent $25 on ingredients and I can’t start over… UHG. I hope when my mother comes home and we decorate it we can salvage it a bit. I always make the birthday cakes but they are always 1 or two layers, never 4! Hopefully she’ll understand it’s the thought that counts, and maybe people will understand that I COOK not BAKE!!!

Me and my mother had an amazing time fixing the cake, we laughed the whole time! We kept saying how we needed to post a photo of it online with a pic of how we hoped it’d turn out with the caption “nailed it”. (look those up, they are so funny!) It almost looks like a hedge hog. It’s so ugly but it makes it PRICELESS, and the best cake in the world!

so fluffy the gallbladder diet stinks. Its hard to adjust to. The most important thing is low fat. That is the main thing your gallbladder is responsible for digesting.

As a nurse I’m disappointed that so many of you have had such bad experiences at your local hospitals. I used to feel like that for us everytime we went to a hospital. Husband is a fire/medic so we have lots of experience between the two of us which helps us navigate healthcare a little better. We tend to get better service as not many things go around our heads.

Stickerbunny- Have you ever heard of insulin pens.. Have you ever looked into them? They just have a little dial on the side and then you just stick and push a button.. nothing to draw up. They are super nice, I love when a patient has them. Nurses go through a lot of training to care for multiple patients at a time & they aren’t perfect. So it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job! It is always a balancing job.

Just got back from my 5k!! Snickers and Paris did good, the only problem Snickers had was barking when she got overly excited. It was a good experience, although now I’m tired lol!!

She’s trying to get the pens from the doctor. But, it’s being a pain getting them to call in the prescriptions. First, they gave us pen samples because they thought that had everything – except it comes with no needles. Then, we got them to call in the needles and they forgot to call in her second type of insulin in the pens… so we have one type of insulin in a pen now and one type not. Of course, the one that is not is the more difficult one to get in a syringe without air bubbles, it’s so thick.

Of course, none of that helps her take her shot herself. :s

So I think me+Snickers photo might be in the newspaper, there was a newspaper guy there taking tons of photos. He took quite a few of Snickers because he thought she was so cute with her sweater and tutu. Everybody kept complimenting how cute Snickers was and of Paris’ lovely tutu. It was so cool. I will definitely do it again, I was so surprised at how well Snickers could keep up. I was slightly ashamed of my time, 3 miles in 47 minutes, but I did have to carry Snickers for like a mile, and part of it was on a busy road so I had to keep stopping to prevent me/Snickers from getting hit by a car. I really want to take up running now, I feel like I could definitely run 3 miles once or twice a week to start (Keep in mind I have never run and never practiced for the run). Maybe I’ll practice throughout the year and get down to 30 minutes next year. It’s hard because although Snickers has a lot of energy she gets tired quickly and I have to slow the pace. I still think Snickers had a fun time though.

Shannon- trying to reform the fiancee, he hates any type of veggies so I get creative with it ( aka puree it and add it to stuff). I’ve found that the only meat that I can stomach is Chicken, Pork and Shrimp, anything else, and I’m running for the bathroom. Actually, I have no diet restrictions from the surgeon who did my surgery, as long as I can tolerate it, I can eat it. Which I am finding out that even cheese pizza is something that I can’t tolerate.

Moxie- 47 minutes sounds great for your first time! especially carrying the dog for a mile..geez! The things we do for our pets!

Shannon-with me, I have to take a medication to help my digestive system operate ( gastroparesis due to diabetes not being caught for a few years), which makes it very hard, I eat mostly a veg diet with some meat because I can’t give up my chicken and shrimp, pork I am meh about. I can’t eat eggs not after finding out my allergy to sulfa drugs and eggs have sulfur in it and I can’t stand it. I’ve not had a good year, so what I can tolerate in small meals per day is mostly vegs, cut out my major fruit addiction and some meat. I don’t even eat bread here anymore as my stomach cannot tolerate it since I feel yucky afterwards. Rice seems to be the only carb that I can handle, pasta gives me heart burn like crazy now. So the surgeon telling me whatever I can tolerate food-wise is better than saying just watch the fat which I do since I don’t cook in butter or anything like that unless I’m cooking eggs for the fiancee, I use mostly coconut oil if I need it for stuff. Mostly, it bake or boil to use in recipes since I do all the cooking, and there are so many ways to make chicken tender. The only time I am really having issues is when I go out to eat, because now it includes no butter, no pastas, rice instead please, very little oil on the veggies and so on, it has been a very weird year and lots of weight loss which has now tapered off since I’m eating about seven small meals but healthier than my diet before all of these issues that have happened since last october.

Oh and I got invited to another 5k somebody is planning to raise money for another good cause. It’s gonna be a cool one where people throw paint at the white shirt you are wearing. I’m slightly concerned for this one though because it’s not as “low key”. The race I just went to was low key because people were walking their dogs, pushing old dogs in strollers ect., just a lot of fun and it gave you a good feeling because you didn’t feel like you had to win even if you would like to. This one will actually be a race, and I know I will stink at it lol!

hello girls!
we are in Peanut Harvest. a very busy time and Harry notices it! More people around then usual walk by his hutch! ive been feeding him more carrots lately with some taller grass i pick for him he seems to like it better! i let him come inside a few days ago and play on my bed! he loved it but pretty soon sought a hiding place under my dresser.. and when i ever get a chance to catch him he seems to enjoy just cruising around the huge yard! mostly staying away from our 3 curious dogs! a while ago i set him atop my horse Rio. He didnt know what to think of that but means he was up there and i had a hold of him, he decided to check out what horse hair tastes like.!!! Thank Goodness my horse is patent and longsuffering!

The bunnies have been spending a lot of time together. Still some fighting, though, and no real sign of any affection. But I’m hopeful that if I keep doing this as much as possible, they’ll get over the hump and start to tolerate each other more…right?! Sigh.

My bf and I went to the park yesterday and we saw a guy walking his bunny on a leash. And the bunny seemed to love it! He was hopping up to people and plopping down for pets. Very adorable, but HUGE! The guy said he was 13 lbs. Yikes! French lop, apparently. I’ve wanted to walk my buns before, but Pippin could barely stand to have a vest put on him so I’ve never gotten that far.

Good morning, people!
We’re still alive in the south; and we’re off to the vet with one of the fosters this morning for his “appointment.” He was going to be going to his new home this past weekend, but it fell through. Now we’re shooting for the coming weekend. I know his new mommy is excited, especially after the disappointment of last weekend falling through.

Our other two fosters have been spayed and neutered and are doing very well. They are still looking for homes, but we’re hoping to find someone for them soon. I only hope that the fact that it’s close to Halloween doesn’t cause issues, considering they look like solid black buns. I don’t want some sick person to try and adopt them just to cause them harm, since I know that happens with black cats, dogs, and other animals this time of year.

My Tilly and Duncan are now free-roam when someone is home, and confined to their room when we go out or at night; since I still have some bunny-proofing to do. Zoey is doing much better with the bunnies invading her personal space, but the bunnies are really pushing it as much as possible. Tilly ran up and started sniffing Zoeys face yesterday and Zoey just held her breath for about 7-8 seconds before having to back away about a foot… and Duncan keeps wanting to check out her tail while she’s trying to sleep but goes bouncing off when she turns to look at him.

In other news my allergies have been HORRIBLE lately and I had to get a new prescription for my nasal spray (which the pharmacy was out of). I blame it on the rain and the flood water stirring everything up. Normally the pollen is trapped under the pine needles and other tree-litter, but it floats when the water rises. On top of that my main allergies are to mold and mildew; and I’m sure that’s a big factor right now. I’ve gone through a box of tissues and half a roll of toilet paper til I could get more tissue, in the last day and a half.. even had a nose bleed the other day. My allergies have never been worse… even when they were a constant factor up in Maryland. X_x

*Apologies for the complaining, but…* My insurance doesn’t cover my allergy medicine! I have already been without it for a month and when they finally get it in and filled I find out they want me to pay $160 for a tiny bottle I could probably smuggle out in my bra with no one the wise! X_X I have to wait to hear back from my doctor on what can be substituted and try again… until then, I’m destroying tissue boxes and not sleeping well.. Boo!

Tilly and Duncan are certainly enjoying themselves. They don’t feel the need to know where each other are anymore, as long as they can find them when they want snuggles. Tilly spends lots of time sprawled out down stairs, while Dunny runs around up and down stairs and tries to climb into paintings before flopping in his favorite spot upstairs.

I think this is the quietest that I’ve seen the chat thread in almost a year.?

CT, so sorry to hear about your meds! Allergies are horrible and mine have been giving me fits for the last couple of weeks too. We live about 100 yards from a huge line of pine trees, so it gets bad every year…and there’s some yellow flower that blooms on the side of the road and in the median that gives me such a headache. I’m ready for all of it to die, lol.

Things in our house are pretty mellow for the most part…my little man has his first birthday next month, so we’re getting ready for that, but otherwise things are pretty quiet. KitKat still hates me – she growls and swats at me when I try to reach into her pen, but she loves my husband, so whatever, lol. At least she gets pets from somebody. I think she doesn’t like me because I’m always the one who trims her nails and brushes her and trims her hair, while he’s the one who feeds her every day XD

Went to the animal shelter yesterday just to look at the pets. They were all so cute, it makes me want to come home with them all!! The cats were so sweet, and it made me remember bringing Spring home. I still really miss her… :^[

Cottontail— So true! Especially since our shelter is having a special, only $50 for an adult cat for the rest of October…LOL. I actually went because I saw a pic of a cat I was interested in, but he turned out to be very scared/aggressive around other cats. When the worker brought him into the room with other cats so we could look at him he became very aggressive and started howl/growling and scratching the worker. She couldn’t even shoo him out, they ended up having to take a broom to shoo him out. So obviously not compatible for us, but I think he would do well in an only pet situation. There was the cutest cat named Boogie, that was so playful and cute, but we just can’t bring in anymore right now.

Poor baby. I know my Zoey gets like that with strangers and ALWAYS with other cats unless they’re kittens under 5 or 6 months of age; but she is the sweetest lovely thing with us and with the bunnies. I hope he finds a good home.

Wow Moxie, $50 for a cat? The humane society was practically giving cats away here a couple months ago. They were overrun with kitties and no one wants to adopt them. I was just looking on their website and they have a few bunnies in (they don’t get bunnies in very often).

My bridge kitty absolutely hated other cats. He would make all kinds of noises, spitting and hair all puffed out. He was abandoned outside for an entire summer and I often wonder if the neighborhood cats beat him up.

And no one is here! I miss everyone. This is awful. CT – Tell Andi to get her butt back here.

hey all. just checking in so you guys know I’m still kicking haha. been busy with work, school. picked up a second job ANDDDDDDD rocket has a sister. year and a half old dwarf bunny. decided that Hera would be fitting given it was going to be rockets name if he turned out to be a girl. previous owner only took him in until she found a suitable home..she found him in a kennel on someone’s lawn with a free bunny sign on a +25C day! can you believe that? I was fuming. I met her a month back when I was called to come check on her by the rescuer. now here she is, spay scheduled for the 6th. medical checked out fine (minus some “beastly” claws as the doc called them”) so in the mean time I’m writing up plans for an indoor condo for her and rocket once the 3 of us are bonded and she’s fixed. good times!

LBJ— Yup, currently $50, but the prices for adult cats are usually $75, kittens are $100, VIP (very important purrers) are $75-100 and senior cats they request a donation. But sometimes they’ll do some “specials” where if you donate a certain amount of the cat food they use you can adopt a cat or a certain color/patter is free. And I believe once a year they have a day where all their adult cats are free except the VIP cats.
The dogs are a bit (quite) more expensive though.

I’m enjoying Willow so much I had to share. As some of you might remember I got her at 5 weeks old. She’s been doing great, so I’m thankful.

We went and got a bunch of split loom and covered all the cords. Then I opened her xpen up. So far the last few days she always goes to her litterbox to go potty, both poo and pee. I’m such a proud bunny parent. Ok..well she does have an issue with the bed and sometimes seems to think it’s ok to go there. I ‘m currently throwing an old huge comforter over it, but I think I’ll just get an xlarge picnic blanket so the pee cant go through. I’d kick her off, but I use the computer, play video games and watch tv from it and I love it when she comes over and flops on me.

She follows our old pitbull, Lump everywhere. It’s so cute. He’s always loved cats, but I don’t have any due to our mostly prey animal house (birds and rats). But he gets so excited with any neighborhood cats that jump into our yard and let him gush over him. Though he’s also gotten a few terrible scratches because he has no idea not all appreciate his attention. He’s generally too doofy to move so I have to chase the cat off, cause he’ll just take it.

Anyways, he’s loving the little bunny, who is like his little shadow.

The two birds are also cage free except for their bed time between nightfall and sunrise. The starling, Zeki, is a little jealous, since he likes to ride the dog and now the dog and the humans are giving attention to the furball. I had to get on Zeki when I saw him pulling on the bunnys hair while yelling at it. Willow ignored him, like she didn’t notice she was having hair yanked. I’m glad she’s a brave bunny. The conure, Foo is terrified of the bunny. Just looks at it side ways and then runs.

I might need to get a bigger litterbox. Willow for some reason likes to run as fast as she can and hit the back of the box hard and then spin, which sends litter, poo and hay flying. Cute, but rather messy.

it’s interesting to see what scares her and what doesnt, cause it’s definately not what I would think. Key clanging-scary. Vacuum-not scary. Yelling humans-not scary. Bird screaming-not scary. Dog tags jingling when he shakes-scary. Dog barking-not scary. It’s seems to be only metallic jangly sounds that freak her out.

I’ve brushing her, though she really doesn’t need it yet-as a lionhead she very likely will need daily brushings as she gets older. I’ve been using a metal comb. She loves that. She likes it everywhere but under her chin. If I comb her there she jumps straight in the air and runs in a circle. she doesn’t seem scared, it’s like I’m pressing the crazy bunny button or something.

Lastly-Grats Aaron on Hera. Glad she found a good forever home.

Aaron – So glad to hear that Rocket and Hera have a good home at last. I hope they get on well with each other.

LBJ – it is oddly quiet… I left a message for Andi to remind her that she is missed here. I hope things start to pick up soon. It’s always been so comforting and amusing to come back and see all the odd twists in the conversation.

Tilly has decided to keep me company the last couple days; and even hopped up on the couch repeatedly to see if I had snuck any treats. Every time I thought I might sneak a snooze I had to get up and tell Tilly not to eat Seinfeld or to stop dragging my pillow away. Duncan has been lounging most of the day. He came binkying through a bit earlier, and followed Tilly about for a while, but went back to lounging.

I need cheap costume ideas too. I won the costume contest last year, so hopefully I’ll be able to keep my reputation. Last year I was an identity thief. I wore black pants and a black shirt, plus a black beanie. All over me I had “Hello my name is…” stickers with the names of everybody there. (it helps that I knew everybody there, but if you were trick-or-treating you could just put random names) Everybody loved looking to see if their names were stuck on me. I also brought extra incase I forgot about somebody or somebody I didn’t know showed up.

I’ll post my ideas for this year in another reply, so this one doesn’t get too long and filled with pictures.

Okay guys so I need some advice! I have a family member who is helping to plan an all night party for teens. The other people who are helping plan (who I know as well) all want it to be VERY organized and planned, they even separated all the people into teams… (can I also point out that all the people who are best friends are on opposite teams..) So as you can see I have my concerns, and the details I’ve gotten about the party are just well…uhh… Not the most fun thing ever. So I want to kinda help give them advice (my family member totally agrees with me she just gets out-voted) so they don’t get hurt when people don’t have the best time… So I wrote a list of super fun game ideas I know everybody will love that I found on Pinterest (like glow in the dark volleyball), just to give them so Ideas. But I was also considering putting a little note at the bottom but I don’t know if it’ “rude”, or might be taken the wrong. Here it is: (Should I just not add it, edit it, ect.? Pls let me know your opinions! ) (Also, should I just casually mention it in person instead?)

NOTE— Although planning games can be easy and tons of fun, I just want to stress FREE TIME. Nobody is going to want to stick to a schedule at ALL times and trying to stick to a schedule is just going to be more difficult and stressful for the ones planning it. It’s good to have guidelines though, so things don’t go too crazy!

But I have to admit, I love Den’s kitten. WHY? Cause he loves it and it makes him happy AND it’s his, NOT mine!

Well that’s not true for ALL cats. Our cat Cleo, she goes to the window and growls whenever she hears somebody pull in or talking. One time we had a giant OX escape from the neigbor’s and come right to our window at night. We had 3 dogs at the time and they were all sounds asleep, you know who warned us? Cleo by growling at it through the window. But I understand about them not running to greet you and not being able to take them on walks ect. I’m more of a dog person although I do like cats. But lets not talk about fluff, I just plucked Moxie some, and when I was done I was COVERED head to toe!! LOL. When I really start brushing her it starts floating around the room and gets stuck in the strangest places. Even on your face! If you don’t like fluff I wouldn’t steal Moxie.

it’s fun to have organized games. But to have the whole time to be forced structure may not go over super well. Perhaps, some games which don’t need teams and are individual can be put in sporadically through out and then set up a movie/music corner for those who want to chat or just hang out. That way there is still the choice for structured fun or they can just hang out.

Moxie – That’s actually a pretty cute costume idea. I like Shannon’s Shark Week idea too. I saw shark hats at Target in the Halloween section. LOL You could totally do that! And I agree about the party being too structured. Sure, games should be available for people who want to play, but there shouldn’t be someone with a watch saying “alright everyone, it’s time to……”.

Shannon – Those are all very creative ideas. I like the Lego, but I will need to be able to move around. It has to be something that kids would “get”. I guess that would be the minion one? I never watched those movies, but they seem popular.

Andi – You looked beautiful in your wedding pictures. You should post them here too. OMG, Denny got a kitten?! I thought he was moving to the US though. How’s he going to take the kitten with?
You shouldn’t fear Halloween. Just because it’s a tradition here doesn’t mean Aussies couldn’t do it better.

Bam – It’s a kid’s event, hence the costume. I only ever dress up for kids events, really. But this time I don’t have a costume collection at my disposal (we had a HUGE collection at my old job because people would make costumes each year and then leave them for others to use in the future).

So my husband wanted some fruit earlier, so he cut some up and mixed it together. He gave me a bowl. I walked into the bunny room with the bowl and Wooly came flying over immediately. I showed him the bowl and he looked very disappointed (no bananas in it). I gave him a piece of apple. He turned his nose up and hopped away. Leopold came over, snarfed up the apple. Then I tried giving Wooly a grape. Same thing and Leopold snarfed it up. What a turd. So, silly me, I open the Oxbow naners and Wooly comes flying over again. He snatches that right away. Then Leopold was mad because I wouldn’t give him one. He just ate a piece of apple and a piece of grape!

Okay so here’s the story about Paris. We hooked her up outside to use the bathroom (they think it’s time for a walk/marathon and not a potty break when we walk them on a leash so we normally don’t do that). Everything was fine, I even checked on her when it was snowing and we played a little bit. Well about 10-15 minutes later my dad went to bring her inside but she wasn’t there, she had snapped her collar. We go outside shaking the bag of treats, calling at the top of our lungs (and probably waking up every person on our road). We even brought her sister Tilly (on a leash) out to try and see if that would tempt her back or they would find each other or something. At this point we knew A) She had been hit by a car B)Somebody saw her and picked her up or C) she was stolen. My dad walks up our road and takes a left and starts walking up the highway in the middle of the night with a flashlight calling Paris’ name. Finally around an hour later, somebody pulls up to my dad (on the highway road type thing, not sure it’s as big as a highway but it’s a VERY busy, big road) and asks him if he’s lost something. My dad told him he lost his dog/puppy, and the guy described her and asked if that was her. Which it was, so my dad just hopped in their car and they drove to their house where they had Paris. I guess the man found Paris running along the middle of the road and almost hit her. He opened his car door and she just hopped into his car. His wife told him to go drive around where he found her incase somebody was looking for her, because she said she looked like a very well taken care of dog, and you could see she had been wearing a collar by her fur. He said he was going to put up a flyer at the local store and if nobody responded in a few days they were going to keep her.

HOW lucky were you that Paris got into a (nice) stranger’s car? It may just have saved her life from getting run over – pheeeewie !

My dog is not an ‘”everyone’s-a-friend-I’ll-go-and-say-hi”-waggy-tail-dog’ and if I ever lost her, she would never go with anyone else, she’d run in the opposite direction. In a way that’s good (dog theft), but not if the stranger is a nice person wanting to do good….

Strangely enough last week I found our neighbour’s dog who sped off – fast, he’s a border collie!! – whilst on a late night walk, and the neighbour fell into my arms almost in hysterics thanking me… the dog didn’t know me and luckily he just wanted a huge cuddle (and the smelly treat I had prepared in my pocket !!!). I’d never spoken to the neighbours before, and not since….. as they say : “nought so queer as folk…”!

Yes, I was so thankful she wasn’t hit, especially because she is small and black. I’m also glad they didn’t decide to keep her! They didn’t have her long enough to get attached though. We definitely gave her a few extra hugs and treats before going to bed!

I’ve been brushing out Moxie’s wool the last couple of days and she looks so patchy ha ha. I’ve been calling her “My little flower patch”.

Vienna— She’s a very friendly dog, although I was a bit surprised she just hopped right in! Her sister Tilly (who was also a rescue) and one of our other dogs Zero would never go near a stranger unless they were very hungry and their was food or something. My dog Snickers is very friendly but would be a little hesitant athough would eventually willingly go with them (I think). We have 4 dogs in all, Tilly and Paris (German shepherd mixes) who we recently just rescued and our other 2 dogs Zero (Siberian Husky) and Snickers (Mini Dachshund).
I’m glad you were able to catch your neighbor’s dog, I’m sure they were EXTREMELY greatful!

In the past year we have had 4 dogs show up at our house. Thankfully all had tags. I am severely allergic to dogs but I still make the effort to keep them near our house and call the numbers provided. We even keep some chews/milk bone treats on hand. I was so startled by one I was lucky he was nice. He was a huge German Shepard. I was pulling weeds in our front flower bed and had headphones on and turned around and he was extremely close.. possibly smelling me already. I didn’t hear him at all. Every since i’ve used a speaker outside instead of headphones. Out here you can’t trust the next time it won’t be a bear. :/
I was a little disappointed. One tag had a company that tracked the dogs and contacted the owners for you.. When the owner didn’t immediately answer they said they were going to call animal control for me… they just needed my address. Around here it is expensive to get the dog out so I told them no I would wait and try again.

I don’t have time to read through the past pages, but wanted to pop on and say Hi! Pumpkin and Shamrock are doing great. They are free roam on the main floor of our house, but spend most of their time in the living room and our bedroom. We also adopted a 4 month old Shih Tzu puppy a couple days ago! He couldn’t care less about the bunnies’ existence and the bunnies are slowly coming around to the fact that he is here to stay His name is Neville and he is super sweet. We will be taking him to puppy obedience classes and keep him separate from the buns (unless supervised) for the time being.

Also, in exciting news…my husband and I went to Las Vegas for my 30th birthday last month and we met up with BM14 and her hubby! We hung out in Vegas and also went to the Grand Canyon together. Yay for BB friends!

Hi LLH! I was wondering when you were going to share your new addition on BB. Now, how about some pics? =D

If we know where the dog lives, then we will just take them home (there are some repeat offenders in our neighborhood). I have called the number on the tags before so a few dogs and the owner has always come to get them right away. Nothing too serious. We never really had a problem with our dog trying to run off. Being a dachshund, she never could run very fast. LOL Plus she was always too chicken to wander off too far, even when we were at the dog run.

Hi guys! Haven’t been on in a while but I still read now and then! I too added a new baby to the family recently. We just moved into a new house and I thought that Binky would like a friend. I adopted Sofia who was a bunny in need of a forever home. She had been dumped and abused so she is a little timid and territorial of her space right now so bonding will wait until she settles in and trusts us first. She’s coming around
And yes I got to meet LLH! We had a blast! Too bad it was only a weekend, now we just need to get together to see each other’s bunnies!

Anyhow, just wanted to let you know I met up with Lee today and we talked everything bunnies – it was so cool! She is stunning as I’m sure you all imagined, and everything wonderful that I expected! DAM Henry hid under the bed and I had to lift my mattress for her to see him – that was disappointing. I would have loved to have a picture of her holding Henry. But she got to meet the famous Frank, George and Sam. Oh, and Blair! LOL! Honestly, the day was the best ever – I am SO lucky! I wanted to post our photo together but I can’t resize it… BUGGA!

And YESSSS LBJ! BB member’s are the BEST ever! I still can’t believe I got to meet a BBer! Super happy!

OMG, my husband is so clueless sometimes. He doesn’t normally “wake up” the buns in the morning. Well, the other day, he went in their room to open the curtains. He stepped back over the gate and into the hallway. He went to walk away when he saw Wooly sitting on the other side of the fence. Staring. He asked me what his problem was. I said he was probably wondering where his naner was. Sadly, the buns think they get a treat in the morning for some reason now. It started after we came back from our little vacation. I think my parents spoiled them too much.

So we’re supposed to get our haircut today (my husband and I both). Nothing very exciting planned for the weekend since my car broke down. My husband is going to have to fix it since it will cost way too much to take it somewhere to have fixed.

Not for me. I don’t get paid holidays either. For example, my office will be closed Thanksgiving and the day after. People will have a 4 day weekend and be paid for it because they get paid for national holidays. I’m not allowed to go into work those days, but I don’t get paid either because I’m a grant-funded “intern” (basically it is their way of getting out of offering any kind of benefits to me).

So 5 weeks vacation is mandatory there? I work for the city government, so if I was a regular employee I would earn vacation hours. They base it off of how many hours you work.

Oh and the haircuts. LOL No, it’s just because we have to drive to the town where my husband grew up so we make our appointments together.

Black skinny jeans ($8 at walmart)

A used black and white “convict” shirt from the party supply store. (it still had tags so I doubt it was used much. But it was an XXXL in mens so it was quite big. I just tucked a lot of it in my jeans and rolled up and pinned the sleeves)

Red suspenders

and I already had red shoes, a red bureua(?) hat

ohhh yes, in France the ‘work code’ bible is THE bible and any employer who does not play by it will be in trouble ! (by their employees)
The French are known to strike (and shout and grumble and moan and protest) at the slightest thing, and it is soooo true. :o))
They also take bosses to the prudhomme to appeal against wrongful dismissal, even if its clear they themselves were at fault.
In a way it’s good when you need protection as an employee, but it does not help employers (I am not one) at all to be flexible.
The French working population are VERY protected, so much so that they do not realise what a good thing they’ve got !! Vive la France !! LOL

Tilly has finally come back out of diva-mode now that her daddy is done with his business trip.  She and Dunny were down for a little while this morning before heading back to their room.  They really like their room now, which as much as I should be happy, is a little frustrating since I’ll be slowing turning it into the nursery over the next few months.  Last night I was surprised to have not seen them for several hours and went to check on them, only to discover that they had shut their own door for privacy.  When I opened it up and asked them what was going on, Duncan started nudging the door shut again! lol 

Also, something about this year just doesn’t feel like Halloween.   Normally it’s our favorite holiday for decorations and scary movies, but this year I’ve got just a squeaky jack-o-lantern, my ghost nightlight, and a plug in porcelain haunted house… everything else is still in boxes… we haven’t even gotten candy or a pumpkin yet. :\  Normally we have stuff in the kitchen, the windows, on the doors, and a big bowl of candy by now.  I just don’t know what it is this year but something is missing.

Thanks LBJ. I took my little sister to a Harvest party but didn’t do any black on my eyes because I was at a friend’s house and didn’t have the time or supplies to get it done. I don’t know if I’ll do the black or not yet. I’m definitely gonna need concealer though after 3 different days wearing that cheap white face paint lol! But cheap concealer is like $8 here for a tiny one in a “lipstick” form, and those are the cheapest kind.

So, big news! Pippin and Fíli don’t hate each other anymore. There is still some occasional nipping, but they have free roam of the living room together and seem to be getting along just fine and have spent lots of time lying next to each other and flopping about. I honestly never ever believed they would get to this point, but I was just stubborn enough to keep trying and somehow it seems to have worked! I am so excited. Will probably try to build them a new, joint cage next week. Yayyy

My poor dog has had an upset stomach all day. It’s because I ran out of our normal food and I fed her 1 bowl of the stuff that I guess makes her sick. I have fed her only rice today to prevent her from getting another bout of Colitis. That brand always gives Snickers and Tilly upset stomachs and Zero will barely eat it. The first time Snickers got sick I just thought it was a coincidence, but now I know for sure that that food is no good. We aren’t ever feeding that brand again and I warned all my friends who own a dog that that brand makes my dogs sick. I don’t know if I’m aloud to state the brand on here because of rules, so I won’t.
Luckily after being on rice Snickers isn’t so sick or lethargic anymore. I just got back from the store (30 mins away) to get them their proper food.

I have been gone for a week and I thought there would be a ton to catch up on but only two pages.. Where is everyone?

We just got back from our one year anniversary-moon (we didn’t go on a honeymoon). We went to punta cana in the dominican republic. I got to swim with sharks! However both the hubby and I got sick & needed antibiotics. My broken spanish made it interesting to say the least.

Goose has been staying at a friends house. They have two bunnies of our own. She sent me a picture of one of her buns and goose laying together under a coffee table. I hope he isn’t over attached already! anyway he comes back this afternoon. and I can hardly wait. I’m sure he won’t be happy with us for leaving him. He never is.

I know, the chat has been pretty slow this month (well for the last few months actually). And thanks about my costume Shannon.

ANYWHO, the all night party was last night and I was one of the 5 people who actually stayed up through the whole thing. It’s hard because towards the morning when you’ve been running around for hours on end playing games like soccer, you really want to fall asleep! I ended up going to my friend’s house afterwards and sleeping for about 2 hours, came home and had a cup of coffee. I don’t quite feel like a zombie anymore, but I definitely am ready for an early bed time! It was the best though because I was hanging out with people I normally am not very comfortable with because I don’t know them too well, but towards the end of the party we were all over-tired and laughing at everything. We were just telling puns and playing cards, so I feel like I got to know them a little bit more. (Big step for me! The only really close friends I have are 2 I’ve had since kindergarten and 1st grade) I am comfortable enough to hang out with them and would consider them friends, but not “close” ones. If that makes sense. (please keep in mind I am sleep deprived!! lol)
Anyway I feel like I am just rambling on!

I got to sleep in a bit this morning. I woke up at 4am coughing. I think I have a sinus infection. My husband isn’t sick. Anyway, took some cough medicine and went back to bed. I didn’t get up until 10am. o_O Obviously, the buns were not pleased with this. I went in their room to get them up and Wooly was immediately pulling at my pant leg. I asked him what he wanted (hehe). He just looked up at me and then went to my other pant leg to pull on that one. *sigh* I’m only good for one thing, you know.

I was a little hesitant to purchase it because the company that made it sells stuff that isn’t so good for rabbits (like seed + honey treats) But it looked okay. Our local stores have horrible selections for toys and treats for birds/rabbits/guinea pigs/hamsters ect. It really makes me sad.
