What is with the nudging? I’m sure it ‘s been discussed before but I never got in on the thread.

When Olivia is out and I’m sitting on the floor, I keep feeling this pointy little nose…nudge nudge nudge. Stormy and Bindi do this too but not as much. It’s funny when Bindi does it because he has the typical lop flat face. Whatever it means, I think it’s adorable.

MJ does this too, especially when i’m sitting on the couch. he’ll come up and nudge the backs of my legs and get me to make a little passage way for him to go behind my legs and in front of the couch. and then he’ll just run back and forth behind them a few times. silly buns.. hehe

i’ve read what this means before, too, but i can’t really recall. isn’t it kinda like “hey, you’re in my way” or “you! human! play with me! give me your attention!”

          kinda guessing, though..

Otto does this all the time. Whenever he’s running around and comes anywhere near my legs, he has to nudge. He’s also obsessed with nudging my slippers if I stick my foot out towards him. It’s kind of a combo hi-there/get-out-of-my-way/pay-attention-to-me move.

Deirdra does this, but after about 10 nudges she switches to nipping.

Yes, too many nudges and there will be a hole in my pant leg.

I get nudge nudge nip. Not sure why it is, maybe petting required or maybe I’m in their way or maybe their dinner was late. I tend to just nudge them away so that I don’t lose blood.

Mellow is a huge nudger and it usually means, “get out of my way”, “pet me”, “don’t touch my stuff”, “bring me something good to eat”. The nudge is kinda a catch all “do my bidding, you lesser being”. He doesn’t nip, but he will touch me with his front teeth if I continue touching his stuff. So I do.

Mimzy is VERY Chef Ramsay with his nudging…it most definitely means, “MOVE YER A$$!”
When he wants pets it’s digging and nipping. Of course if I get digging and nipping repeatedly, it means ‘feed more treats’.

Fiver will lower his head and nudge or nosebump when he wants a snuggle session…he is the most gentle nudger I’ve got. Unless you have something in your hand that should not be there so you can pet him…he grabs the offending trinket in his teeth and tries to toss it. (Usually it’s my DSi or a book.)

Pip is more of a foot flicker or jumps right into your lap when she desires your obeisance.

Griff nudges all the time- it seems to be his way to get attention or to acknowledge “hello, here I am”.  When he was younger it used to be followed by a nip sometimes, so my husband gets nervous when Griff nudges as he is certain he will be nipped even though Griff seems to have outgrown that.

Max is a nudger. Not always, but sometimes. It’s always funny to feel that flat lop face against my leg… and sometimes he puts some real power behind his nudge. He never nips. He has never bitten anyone ever.

pepper’s nudges mean different things, depending on context.

If it’s just a *bonk* in passing, it’s the bunny equivalent of when you wave “hey” to a passing friend but don’t stop to talk.

If I’m sitting someplace and a limb is in the way, she wants it moved.  I get 3 nudges, and if I don’t get it, then she tugs on my clothing.  If that doesn’t work, then she’ll nip me.  I think she sometimes views me as a large and rather dim rabbit.

If I’m sitting someplace and she hops up and *bonks* me, it’s “Hey, pay attention to ME”, which can mean that she wants pets or a treat.

Ruby gives lots of nose bonks.   Seems to be saying hi and also get out of my way.   Then she will pull on my clothes.   She is so cute and funny.

Both Kay & Winston a “bonkers” (pun fully intended!!)

Mostly with them is is “Hi, what’s up?” or “Just want to let you know I’m here.”

                                  I love it!

It’s funny – reading this thread I realized that Otto never wants pets when he nudges. I always try to pet him and he runs away! I think it’s more of a “pay attention to me, lady!” nudge. He’ll often binky away as soon as I give him attention

Otto is also obsessed with bonking the soles of my slippers. I can hold my foot up to him from a foot away and he has to run over and bonk my foot. Lol. I have no idea why he does this. Sometimes if he’s hopping by I’ll stick my foot out to say “hey” and he’ll bonk me back
