Now Davey isnt acting right at all, he is breathing kind of heavy and kind of wobbles when he does, and he doesnt want to do anything but lay down. We came out this morning and they were both laying in a very odd place on top of thier house. They have never laid there before and then when I was messing around in thier pen he jumped out and immediatly went and laid under our coffee table. I had to pick him up (which he actually allowed and didnt fight) to get him to go back in the pen and when he did he decided to go lay in another weird place (diggy box) that he has never actually laid down in. I tired to get him to eat a treat and tried to hand feed him some hay, they both tend to eat more that way, but he turned both down and just kind of shut his eyes  So pitiful, she seems to be back to her normal self pretty much shes been running around like crazy this morning eating hay and drinking, but not the bubba…

The wobby part concerns me – I think you should get them to a vet. This is the best course of action to settle your fears and seek some professional vet advice.

I wonder if there’s something environmental that’s affecting them. Do you use gas heat or have they been able to chew on the walls and ingest paint chips or anything?

Thats what I wonder too cause she was acting like that first and now its him. She has been out hopping around almost normally but now when I woke up just now and came out he is up in the second level of the mini haven flopped in there which he has only jumped up in once, I pet him and he like backed away then I pulled my hand out and he flopped again. I though maybe it was something that he ate or got into but there isnt anything that has been touched. And whats weird is that shes pretty much ok now and now he’s not?! I have been watching him too and it was like all of a sudden, since we got up and saw him at like 4:45 and then I went back to bed and just got up at 10 and hes still wierd?! He was fine yesterday and the wobbly thing isnt happening anymore it was only when he was breathing heavy. This is where he is now and has been for who knows how long, and he turned down hay again and like seemed mad that I would even try…

Is he also turning down all other kinds of food? If so, he could definitely be having a gas or stasis episode. My bunny Raymond also just lays in his litterbox when he is in stasis. If you are saying that he has not eaten anything at all,and not pooped as far as you know, then it is important to get him to the vet. I would test to see if he is eating at all by offering him one of his favorite treats. If he even turns that down, then it is likely stasis and you need to take him to the vet. If he eats the treat, try some veg and see if you can get him to eat that. It is very important that he eat.

As far as the heavy breathing, my bunnies do that often when they are too warm – has it been especially hot in your apartment?

I just tried a raisin and it touched his lip and he like jumped he wouldnt eat it. Hes doing the breathing thing again and I hear like this really light little pop every two or three breaths. It has been warm outside this week but at night the air is on at 68 and then i turn it off during the day and it gets to about 71-73 nothing hot, I want him to come out of that little house!

Can you get him out and feel him over see what he does?

I was sitting on the couch and all of a sudden he jumped out of the mini haven and ran into the bedroom and flopped under the bed, I pet him under the bed and he ran into the closet and jumped in a pile of stuff and he let me pick him up. I sat on the bed with him and he let me hold him for a bit and he let me flip him over and rub his belly quite a bit then he jumped off the bed and hopped around and he finally ate a raisin. Now I dont know whether to take him somewhere or not, cause now he is just sitting and looks perkier and groomed her and is as I write drinking.

It’s really difficult to know because you know your rabbit’s behavior best so I would say just watch them and decide if it warrants a trip to the vet. Sometiimes a change in routine (even the days getting longer and shorter) can have affects on animals.

You know…this reminds me of the day I FREAKED because Oreo hadn’t pooped at all since I fed him in the morning, around 8am and it was around 5pm. Its hard not to worry, they are just like kids! =)
