        Hey friends
I'm new to this forum, so excuse me in advance if I'm making mistakes.
I have two very cute dwarf rabbits about 4 months old.
They are male and female and they are bonded, the male is neutered and the female is not yet.
They live indoors in a cage of 70 cm by 140 cm and the cage is open all the time we are at home
(which because of the corona is currently all day) and closed only at night.
A little over two weeks ago I noticed that the male (who is a lion's head) has an eye infection,
I took him straight to a veterinarian who said it was a mild eye infection and that there was nothing to worry about.
she gave me eye drops that should alleviate the irritation.
The rabbit himself did not pay too much attention to his eyes and behaved as usual and ran around the cage and ate as usual.

The drops she gave me were for 12 days and on Friday suddenly he seemed to me very tired and not so interested in food and just lay in his house.
I wanted to take him to the vet But it was closed so I had to wait 3 hours.
When I wanted to call the vet all of a sudden the rabbit was fine, he went back to eating and became interested in the environment.
So I decided not to take him and continue with the drops.
Yesterday I finished with the drops and the rabbit looks just fine but he still has some discharge from both eyes and he also does not look the most active.
Before his eyes got infected he would run non-stop and now he does not show too much interest in running. He eats non-stop (only vegetable hay and very few pellets as recommended by a veterinarian).
When he hears the bag of snacks open he runs to me but other than that he does not run at all. They have a lot of games and they both play quite a lot.
Plus the girl eats exactly the same as him and she is very curious and and active.
Could it be that it's just his personality? Or should I take him to the vet again?
Plus i noticed he has pinched hindqurters I wonder if it affects somehow?
the vet said nothing about this but i wonder if she noticed.
And will pinched hindqurters also affect his quality of life?
Is this a problem that needs fixing?
Thanks in advance and I'm sorry for the long post.

This is Bam: I cut and pasted in the above text for easier readability. At least it is more easily readable on my PC and Android phone now. It is however the exact same text that balusch posted, without any changes.

A “bunny cold” (which, contrary to human colds, often is caused by bacteria) can cause discharge from the eyes, especially if its from both eyes. If that is the case, the drops may not be sufficient. He could need oral antibiotics to fight the infection. The fact that he is less active suggests that something isn’t quite right with him.

Other causes for runny eyes are for example plugged up tearducts or a dental issue. With dental issues, its more common that one eye is affected.

I suggest you call the vet that prescribed the drops and explain the situation. They might be able to give you a prescription without an additional visit, since he basically exhibits the same symptoms as when you got the drops. It is reasonable for a vet to try drops first and proceed to sth stronger if the drops dont resolve the issue.

              Thank you bam.

I was afraid of rabbit cold how ever i am not sure of the sighns.

The discharge from the eyes come and go.

The bunny seems to be happy and he spends all day eating.

If it Is snuffles is it an emergency?

Or do i have time to somthing change?

If he is eating like normal and seems ok, its not a super-emergency. It could of course still be good to call the vet and ask, if the eye discharge persists.

Appetite and poop (amount, shape and condistency) are things to keep an eye on. That he comes running for treats is great!
