hi : ) im sorry for posting here so much haha but my rabbit just recently recovered from gi stasis 4/5 days ago. she’s been doing great, but today she hasn’t been pooping as much as she usually does and when she pooped just now, it’s a little smaller than normal. one piece had a little tuft of hair coming out of it, she also just molted pretty heavily but that ended about a week ago too. she’s been eating a lot of hay and drinking lots of water all day, and has been very active like normal. is this something i should be worried about? i may give her some simethicone in case she’s having gas, but she doesnt seem to be in pain at all. im just really worried because of her having stasis not too long ago.

im sure this probably isnt it, but last night she tore up her hay bag, it’s fleece but i dont think she ate any of it. i had to take it out of her pen, im not sure if she could be stressed or something that it’s not in there anymore? i’ve just been putting her hay in the end of her litterbox and in little piles on the floor until i can get something else to put her hay in, and she’s mostly been eating from the piles on the floor and then doesnt end up going to poop afterwards like she usually would if she was eating from her litterbox.

It can take quite a while for the poop to get back to normal after a bout of stasis. You can keep giving simethicone baby gasdrops if you want to.

Rabbits often molt from different parts of their body sequentially, so it’s good if you brush her even if it seems like she’s stopped molting. My bun molted like crazy a few weeks ago, when I was convinced she was done molting, she started molting her chest hair 🙄

Serving hay in piles on the floor is an excellent way to get a rabbit to eat more hay. Found hay is yummier than hay served! I have little “hay-stations” in varying places in my apt, and my bun eats from them, but she still uses her litterbox to poop and pee in in.

It’s great that you’re keeping a close eye. I don’t think she minds that you took away her hay bag. Rabbits do like to tear up things and dig and all that, so it’s good if you give her f ex a cardboard “house” that she can destroy (bunstruct) if she likes to – just keep an eye so she doesn’t eat a lot of the cardboard.

oh okay! the main reason i was worried is because her poop has been normal the past few days, but since she’s acting normally otherwise that’s probably it.

i didnt even think to check her chest for shedding haha she still has a big bald spot on her belly from when she was spayed 😂 she is still shedding a little bit, when i pick her up the hair goes floating everywhere but she HATES being brushed so i’ll have to take her outside and do it today so she’ll sit still : )

she definitely likes the hay on the floor better than the pile in her litterbox, yesterday morning when it was all gone she threw a fit until i put more down 😭

she has a cardboard box but doesn’t seem too interested in destroying it, she has a bunch of toys she likes to throw around and rip up though. i saw some nice dig boxes on etsy that i might get too, she would probably love it
