I recently adopted a second rabbit, a neutered, 3 year old hot tot mix who I named hank. He bonded very well with my 2 year old spayed mini rex, Abigail. Both of the rabbits have free range of my apartment and are litter box trained and usually very well behaved. However, I have been experiencing an especially annoying problem. Hank has been jumping onto my bed in the mornings (approx 6 am each day), peeing on my comforter and if I don’t wake up he comes and pees on or near me. I don’t know if this is a territory thing or an annoyed, “get out of bed I want breakfast!” thing. I don’t want to lock him out of the bedroom because both he and Abigail love the room (she especially likes to hang out under the bed. Since she behaves wonderfully and it’s kind of her “safe spot,” I don’t want to stress either of them out by closing the door at night. I tried moving the step I put at the foot of the bed for Abigail, but Hank can jump straight onto the bed from the floor (like a spring!). Not sure how I can keep him off. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to change this behavior? I don’t want to sleep with a plastic sheet over me. I thought about putting one of their litter boxes at the foot of the bed and putting him there when I catch him peeing or arming myself with a spray bottle or something sort of scary to dissuade him from hopping on the bed. Any help is GREATLY appreciated! I love my bunnies, but I already hate my alarm clock and don’t need anything else that early!
