        Hi all,

As some of you know, Thor recently came out of a bout of stasis requiring her to stay at the ER for 2 nights  She’s since recovered and is her usual binkying, sassy, loving self as far as I can tell. She’s been eating well, tons of hay, all her greens…

However, since the incident (and maybe before? It’s so hard to know when things start) she’s been less enthused about her pellets. She used to nip and circle my ankles in excitement for them, but recently she’s been leaving them for later, preferring hay and greens more. She only gets 1/8 a cup a day (she’s 5lbs), so I don’t think she’s being overfed. She will still eat them all, she’s just not as excited about it.

I know you’re probably thinking tooth problems – me too! But she had x-rays while at the vet, and they checked her teeth under sedation. 3 different vets have told me her teeth are “perfect”

Could anything else cause a bun to go off their pellets a bit?

Hmm I know it’s not really the same but Buttercup wasn’t excited for pellets after she was spayed. It took quite a while for her enthusiasm to return. I wouldn’t worry too much if she’s still actually eating them.

When Bombur came out of his 2 days stasis visit it took him a week or two to really start being excited and wanting to eat pellets again. Hay was the first thing he started eating and a few days later he became excited for greens.

Yeah pellets aren’t even a necessity if she’s getting enough hay and greens, so don’t worry about it so much Pellets in my opinion are more of a supplement or a treat.

Panda and Fernando get a combined 1/4 cup’s worth of pellets for breakfast every morning, and I’ve never noticed them unenthusiastic about them. Indeed, a daily routine/ritual has built up in which they’re bunloafing expectantly next to the open door of their condo cage in the morning, waiting for me to arrive with the bowl; I pet either or both of them for a few minutes, depending on which of them is in the mood for being petted, and then set the bowl inside the cage, and they go right for it. Bunnies are great routineers!
