You guys, I am irrationally excited about this discovery, so I thought I would share here.

I’ve already mentioned it in another bonding thread, but I was looking at a slide show on bonding put together by the Ohio House Rabbit Society, and they mentioned that they had “nose guards” for sale in person or that you could find them online. Looked them up, and they are basically the same idea as NIC storage cube grids, but with teeny tiny mesh. Apparently they are also very popular for making rat cages?

I found them online by just searching “small mesh storage cube grids”!

I was able to re-make Bonnie’s pen with them and they are AWESOME. I am unreasonably excited to not have to have a double walled fence for her now!   I was able to connect them together with tiny zip ties.

Those are neat! 😀  Great find Dana!

Bonnie doesn’t look too impressed though. 😆

Haha! She actually likes them, despite appearances! I was able to make her pen larger since I don’t have to deal with an x-pen buffer!  And now all three are sleeping near each other on opposite sides 🙂 <3

@DanaNM I’m curious, what site did you find them on? I’ve been looking for them because I’m considering bonding my girl and those would be useful.

I was able to find them on Amazon. They also might be available at some place like Target or similar?

Darn. They’re not available on the Canadian Amazon and shipping from the us Amazon is more expensive then the grids themselves 😯 . Guess I’ll just have to keep looking

Aww bummer! Not sure what other stores are available, but I think any type of home-goods or office store could potentially carry them?

Dana would these be easy picking’s for chewers? As in, is it easy to get purchase on it to start chewing? Whether on the edges or in the square surface itself?

So far I don’t think so! Bun Jovi tends to bite cage bars and zip ties and hasn’t been able to get his teeth on them to mess with them. Depending on how you oriented the square, you could have a completely flat side facing the bun, and then they wouldn’t even be able to get a hold on the edge very easily. The mesh is so small they can’t get a grip on the mesh itself with their teeth. I can try to post a pic of a close-up at some point.

@Bu20055 they kinda remind me of terrarium covers. Those might work too? Probably easier to find.

They do seem like similar mesh to that, but I bet those covers would be pretty expensive.
