I’ve heard rabbits being put on critical care when they stop eating their food, so I guess critical care helps to supplement that. But the vet recommended that I feed my rabbit CC twice a day for a week for him to gain weight on top of his normal pellets. I’ve never heard about this… She did say to stop giving veggies for a few days because he had poop issues. Also, he’s a really good hay eater. He’s 6 months old.

          It’s pretty normal.

Yup, normal. Exact instructions I got for Wick to make him gain weight. No issues!

oh really? that makes me feel better. I don’t know why I found that strange. Do you remember how much you gave to your buns and how often?

I did one feeding in the morning and one at night. For the feeding, I gave Wick as much as he wanted to eat, since he likes critical care. So I’d keep offering syringes until he’d hop away with a giant belly. It’d be around 5-8, six ml syringes I believe. Wick was between 600-700g at the time.

oh nice, thanks! I gave my bun critical care for the first time last night and he licked the bowl clean how long did it take him to put on weight? I was told to give it to him for a week, is that long enough?

I think we went through two bags of critical care in a week and a half, and that was enough time. He was slightly underweight, so depending on how much your rabbit eats, his current weight, and making sure he’s eating everything else he should as well, timing may vary!

My elderbun, Bindi, who sadly passed away 2 weeks ago, was on CC for a couple of years as he had a hard time keeping weight on. I gave him about 2 TBSP every day.
