I was plucking Chacha’s fur on my covered toilet seat… and I was done.

I scooped her up in my arms, and on the way back to the sunroom, she jumps out of my arms, and hits her head on the sofa head rest and falls onto the ground

She seems to be alright.. but is there any precation that I should take??

How far did she fall and how hard did she hit the sofa, Brittany? Does she seem disoriented Or in any discomfort? Are her eyes reacting to light? Is she favoring any part of her body in any way? How long ago was this?
It’s so hard to tell when a bunny is hurt since they’re a prey species and they hide their pain and illness. Your best bet, if you can, would be to take her in or at least phone your vet and see what they think.
Last week Fiver fell from my lap (sitting on the toilet lid) to the bathroom floor and I managed to grab a foreleg on the way down that I was scared I’d twisted, but he turned out okay. He didn’t hit his head though.
I’ll send some ‘hope Chacha didn’t hurt herself’ vibes. ((((((((((((((((Chacha))))))))))))))))))

How far and hard did she fall? Is the sofa headrest very hard?

I agree with MimzMum. Since she hit her head, I’d definitely give the vet or ER vet a call tonight and see what they think. If they think that she can wait, you should probably get her checked out in the morning, even if she seems fine.

Watch her for any signs that she’s uncomfortable or in pain. Also, watch her to make sure that she doesn’t seem dizzy or disoriented.

Oh no!! Chacha bun!! I would take her in just in case, especially if she hit it hard!

My dad isn’t home right now :'(

I called the Emergency Vet and they told me to confine Chacha and watch her closely to be sure she behaving normally.

Why did my dad have to go out tonight??

Mimz, she fell about one foot and hit the arm rest and fell onto the ground and sped away

Poor girl ><;; I'm watching her like a hawk.

You saw her hit it with her head? She didn’t get her feet in front of her? Did she twist much or just kind of plop down? How far from the armrest to the floor?
I’m trying to be optimistic of the running away part. If she’d really been stunned, she might have been too much so to run off, but…I just don’t know.

A foot isn’t too far, but still, it’s the impact I’m worried about. I don’t know if Nethies are better at surviving falls than a bigger bun that would have more weight behind it.
Of course, when Mimzy was first home with me, he jumped out of his hutch, and he went over the wall side, causing him to fall about four feet to the wood floor, but he landed on all fours at once. I was frantic trying to find out if he’d injured himself. (and thinking he was a female at the time, not sure if there were babies who could be hurt)

Has she eaten anything? Or drank any water? Pottied? Is she loafed or flopped? Is she grinding her teeth?

No she didn’t twist at all. She plopped down.. the armrest was about a foot from my arms and the fall was about a foot.

She’s stuffing her face and giving me kisses. She’s even sitting in front of the heater. She has pooped and is acting like normal Chacha bun

Bunnies can give us quite a scare *sob*

                        Brittany,
You did the right thing calling the Emergency vet. I assume she’s in her cage now, and you’re keeping an eye on her. As long as she ran, is behaving normally and doesn’t grind her teeth or seem to be disoriented or have odd behavior I am betting she’s OK. Keep an eye on her for a bit longer, and don’t hesitate to call the Emergency vet back tonight if you become concerned. In the morning, if she’s fine, you can just touch base by phone with your regular vet if you want to know detailed symptoms to watch for. Don’t look for trouble, but if you are still worried, call the Emergency Vet back and ask for more specific signs of trouble, and if they appear, what to do next.

It sounds to me like she’s OK, though.

P.S. Eating and giving kisses is rarely indicative of a hurt bunny. More like a happy piggie. It’s been a few hours, so she sounds fine to me.

                            *sigh*

                            Thank you guys

I am watching her like a hawk! Its so scary

She is pretty angry with me right now but its for her own good.

My regular vet isn’t in until Monday and I WILL be giving her a call! She is really concerned about stuff like that and may even want to see Chacha.

I have the emergency vet # handy right next to me.

Well…that’s better than her going straight down 2 feet onto her head. And if she went out of your arms horizontally instead of vertically even better.
I’m with Pam. Snarfing and smooching are good signs. I’d follow her advice, it’s spot on.

We’ll keep Chacha and you in our prayers tonight, but I’m going to bet she’s okay too. Maybe all her fur plucking could be done on the floor level from now on. I know I won’t ever blow dry Fiver on the toilet again! ^_^

When I first got Petie, and first picked him up to take him to the bathroom for brushing, it was the first time I’d picked him up and when I had him in my arms, he freaked and jumped from my arms, hit the slanted drawing board table, fell on the ground and ran off. I could only pray he didn’t do any serious damage hitting the table and I too, wondered if I should take him in to be checked for fractures, etc. Since he was running around, I had to take the chance that he was OK. All I could do was watch him carefully for any indication that he was injured but he thank heavens, hopped normally and zoomed around his pen so I let it go at that and resolved to have a better handle on him when I next picked him up, which was nerve-racking and traumatic – for me, but the next time, he settled into my chest and tolerated being carried. Whew!

I’d keep an eye out like the others said, maybe even set your alarm for every two hours or so to check on her. Watch her breathing, and maybe check out her eyes to see if one looks different than the other, might indicate an injury. Watch for any nose bleeds or discharge or that sort of thing.

                                  *snuggles to Cha Cha*

Aww poor bun! I’m with the others in being optimistic. The fact that she ran away and is eating/kissing seems like a good sign. How is she doing now?

Chacha bun is fine. She even thumped at me while I was taking off the clips of her condo because she demands pellets NOW!!!!!!

She is sleeping in her willow tent and my dad is talking to her.

lolz…LPT, as if they listen! ^_^ I tell Mimzy that all the time, but those long loppy ears don’t hear me unless I say, “Nommies!” xD And that’s usually when he makes a leap for the open door!
He got his whole body on top of the door to his night hab the other evening as I finished cleaning because he was so impatient for his treats, and then he couldn’t get back down properly, so he kind of twisted/hopped/scrambled back in to follow them when I put them on his floor. With how creaky his back end is getting, that scared me a little, but he’s okay…silly bun! >.< He sits on that open door like a bird on a perch…as long as he doesn't think he can truly fly with those ears!

I’m glad Chacha turned out to be okay, Brittany. Jeepers, I would’ve been a wreck, but you handled it all beautifully!

Spooky did something like this the other night too. He finally figured out how to get on top of my bed. While he was up there, he got scared at something and jumped off, but didn’t see a box that was on the floor so he hit himself on it. He looked kinda surprised for a minute and then cleaned his nose, like he was upset that he hit his nose haha. I checked him out and he seemed fine and the vet saw him today too, and didn’t say anything was bad.

Gah, this bun is gonna give me a heart attack one day. He is just so wild!
