the humping is a form of dominance. how positive are you that they are both girls? have they been sexed by a vet? it is much harder to bond rabbits when they are not altered. the hormones get in the way and can cause them to be aggressive and territorial. even if they’ve lived for a long time with no problems, there is no guarantee that their bond will not break and you will need to start over with separate living areas. you can possibly avoid this by spaying them both ASAP (and doing them both at the same time). also, females have an 80% risk of developing cancer by the age of 3 if not spayed.

absolutely. even people that are experienced with buns can have a hard time sexing b/c there are very small differences. have they been for check-ups at any time since you’ve had them? it’s recommended that they get annual exams (just like dogs and cats) so you may take this opportunity to do that, make sure they are healthy and get info on spaying.

Definitely even a professional can mis sex bunnies, it’s very important to have a vet do it. Females will hump so humping does not mean she is actually a he, but that could very well be the case.

Buns do bite when they’re humping, not sure why, but they all seem to do some nibbling. It could very well escalate into a fight between the two of them so be very careful and you may want to seperate them.

Do you need any help finding a good rabbit vet or do you have one already?

Having only one Bun – I was Coco’s object of romance prior to spaying…and she DEFINITELY would mount and Bite me while she was having her way with my arm.

It has completely stopped after spaying.
