Zeus’s cage is a dog crate, and obviously it’s a bit slippery.  I had a grass mat in there for a non-slip surface, and it did well, but he didn’t really like sitting or laying on it, I think he preferred the bare floor in the crate because it was cooler.

So, any ideas for something I can use that’s non-slip, but also COOL?

Is tile actually non slip though?  I considered that, but it seems like it wouldn’t be much better than the bare crate floor.

It’s pretty much non-slip since that’s what they use in bathrooms – you don’t want the smooth one you want the texture ones.

Great, thanks.  I wonder if Walmart has tile, I gotta go there today to buy more greens.

You probably want to go to Lowes or Home Depot – one tile is pretty cheap.

It’s that easy? For some reason I had convinced myself that the purchasing of tiles would be a long and painful process. Maybe it’s just because Home Depot is so big, and I can never find anything. But this sounds easy! One or two textured tiles, and you are good to go. Awesome! Thanks Sarita!

I use granite tiles for the bunnies- not to make up the whole floor- but as a cool lounging area and they like the tiles.  Some tiles can be porous (absorb liquids) but I have found that soaking them in vinegar water works well to clean them, I soak, rinse and then let them dry.

hey sell these really expensive marble slabs at the petstore. They call them “chinchilla coolers” That might help. I’m planning on using cardboard (that tends to cool) on the bottom of my buns cage.

The tiles at Home Depot and Lowes are actual stone if you want that (I recommend it, with a rough surface) but Walmart, if they sell any at all, will probably be the cheaper plastic stuff. You can get those too at HD and L, so your best variety as Sarita suggested is going there, for price, kind, size and texture.

A garden nursery might sell slabs, too, meant for outdoors. Probably cost more.

I was also going to say tile and you can get it for pretty cheap at home depot. That is where I got mine.
