        Hello!

We are getting very excited to bring home our bun in a few weeks. I do have a concern though. We live in a small apartment just one block from the train, and it can be pretty loud. We’re used to the sound by now, but I’m worried our guy will be stressed and nervous, especially considering his sharp ears. Will he get used to it like we have? Are there ways I can assure him he’s safe?

        Any advice helps. Thanks!

        Rachel

I recently went through two weeks of bathroom renovations, the buns didn’t even twitch an ear. They slept through most of it.

My bun has 3 yapping companions (dogs), and when something startles them and they start barking right next to Henry he doesn’t even move anymore. Obviously it took a while, but I’m sure when something is regular they will eventually adjust, no different to us. All the best with your new arrival. (very exciting!!!!!!).

Thank you so much! This is comforting news. We’ll see how it goes!

He will get used to it just like you guys got used to it. Kinda like how when you first bring your bun home they say to not “walk on egg shells” don’t try and be quiet around him. You need to go about your day as usual so he will get used to the noises your family makes. That’s why they call it the “adjustment period” your bun is taking in EVERYTHING the moment he comes home. He’s taking mental notes on sights and sounds and he’ll soon process and realize the norm of you washing dishes, opening and closing the front door, laughter, the train and such. So just bring him home, and don’t worry! He’s going to be crazy aware of everything at first wether it’s quiet or noisy. He’s just processing what his new home will be like :p

We live in an apartment with very horrible floors. You can hear conversations above and below you if they are talking a little above regular voice level and you are quiet. One of my rabbits never notices this, but Ashe is like me. Noises annoy both of us, or maybe she doesn’t like me being annoyed. Anyway, she will follow the voices of the people downstairs and thump over their heads until they get quiet (I really hope they think it’s me ) Recently, the people upstairs have been VERY rowdy. I’m not sure if they are dropping things on the floor or slamming stuff or what… but Moogle, who is annoyed by nothing, has been showing signs of being annoyed for once. He will put one of his flopped ears slightly back and stair up like, “What the heck is that?” But that is about it. I’m pretty sure that he does this because it is a fairly new occurrence. You will just have to wait to see what happens.

Hahaha thanks! I wouldn’t mind my guy thumping to get the downstairs neighbors to quiet down. We’ll see how it goes. Wouldn’t mind him being annoyed occasionally as long as he’s not scared.
