Hi, so today I ran out of leafy greens, and I don’t know what to give him. Usually there is lettuce for sale at a farmer’s house down the street, where I can walk to, but they were out. I don’t know what to do! He has pellets and hay but he is used to the schedule. I feed him when I wake up, around 3 p.m. and around 9 p.m. I usually give him an assortment of lettuce and a few slices of cucumber and bell peppers. We only have cucumbers. I am really worried he wont eat well tonight. I can’t go to the store until around noon tomorrow! If you have any ideas on what I can give him that would be great, thank you!

Edit: I have enough food for right now (3:30p.m.) but he wont have any for tonight and tomorrow morning

As long as he has plenty of hay (and eats it well), don’t worry. It’s ok if a bun skips greens once in a while, and sometimes it can even be good for them, as it boosts their hay consumption.

You can still give him a few slices of cucumber if you’d like, but don’t try to compensate for the missing lettuce with cucumbers.

He might be looking at you a bit expectantly around salad time but he will be fine just eating hay. 🙂

Ok, he always has access to hay in his litter boxes and a few baskets around my room. I will put extra hay out anyways and give him a few cucumber slices around salad time, just so he is still on his schedule :). Thank you so much!

Aside from being annoyed, it shouldn’t hurt him if he misses a meal of veggies.
