We got those horrible winds from Hurrican Ike come up our way yesterday. Removed half of our roof and dispersed it all over the neighborhood. I know this is nothing compared to those people down in Texas. I know it has been so horrible for them.

We have never had our power out this long! Our power went out Sun afternoon around 3p and is yet to come back on. 20 Million out in Ohio as of today.

As long as we have water (and we do) then I can live without the power. BUT I have one bun who is scared of the dark! Hoopie hates the dark. He is spending most of the evening time w/ us in the living room w/ a dozen candles lit. Poor little guy. I am not quite sure what he is scared of but he stays hidden when the lights are off.

We still dont have power but we have a wireless card we are using. No phones because we have Verizon thru the internet that requires power.

It is amazing how our lives stop for electricity!

Sorry to hear you’ve been affected. Glad no serious injuries thou! Bet the romance of candles wears off pretty quick!

I’m so sorry you got hit so badly. Roof damage and no power is big, and takes a lot out of you.
Watch out for burning candles if anyone gets sleepy. A bunny is not so badly off if he has to hide in the dark – he’ll sleep.
Also, an alternative to candles can be a large flashlight set on its end pointing to the ceiling, or if it won’t do that, pointed to a white wall while set on its side. This will create reflected light that bounces off the white and gives a low glowing illumination. It’s enough to use as a night light to see by. Might help him. Small flashlights can do this, but the bigger the better.

I hope you get power soon. That sounds like your area was very affected too.

I agree about flashlights or battery powered lights – candles scare me to death! Hopefully you have cool weather there too.

Me either.. im in northern KY, really close to ohio. We lost all veggies and our food in the frig. Found out hammer is afraid of the dark along with all the other animals. Last night me, molly, sage, cinni and tiger, with sassy on and off(3 dogs 2 cats) all slept in my twin bed.. thats all but one of our cats lol. Sassy(cat) is diabetic so his insulin has to stay cold. We finally got a hold of someone with power and his insulin is in their frig now. We just have to go get it twice a day now. The first night of the black out lol, i went to give him his shot and almost got myself! I would have been in BIG trouble then! I wouldnt even have had a phone to call for help! That really scared me. I cant hold a flashlight while giving insulin so now a neighbor holds a flashlight. Hammer is really upset though.. its dark and no veggies.. which means he has lost all will to live lol jk, he just lays around.. looking at me like.. “ma.. “whats happening?!” in a sad teary kinda voice lol
