        Kinda worried…

I just got home from work and noticed that Marlee has not pooped or peed at all today in her litterbox, cage, or my room. I left around 11:45 am this morning…I spent 3 hours this morning cleaning my room so I don’t know if that freaked her out or what the problem could be.

I’ve been feeding her papaya and vitamin C tablets (Papaya on M,W,F,Sun and VitC on T,Th,Sat) for about 2 months and have not changed anything in her diet. She gets 1/4 cup pellets a day around 6pm (just gave her some and she ate some of them), unlimited hay, and some spring greens and a baby carrot at night.

She’s been digging a lot, but I just thought that’s kinda what she likes to do. She’s been spayed for a while.

Uhm, I can’t really think of anything else…just trying to see if any of that is related…

If she still hasn’t gone by the morning she will definately be seeing a vet.

        Any suggestions? Thanks…

Did she eat today? Have you tried feeding her again to see if she will eat?

She had just a little food left in her bowl from yesterday when I left this morning. It was gone when I got home so I put her 1/4 cup in for tonight. She ate two raisins from me (I didn’t want to overdo it). She kinda seemed like normal except her ears were back for a little bit…

I think at this point just see how she is later. It’s good that she’s eating.

Ok..I just kinda freaked. Like I said, if there’s still nothing in the morning she will be seeing a vet. Oh, and it’s almost 8pm where I am..the post says 4 so I don’t want to seem like a nut..haha

That sounds like a good plan!

So I awoke this morning to a mess of poops all over! I’ve never seen Marlee mark my room like this before…not even close. I’m guessing it’s because I actually had to clean a lot of the carpet with spot cleaner cause she peed all along the opening to my closet and behind my door.

A bit of a mess she made! But anyway – Hooray for poopies!

Well! That will teach you to clean your room without bunny approval! lol! Glad she is okay!

Yeah, righttt. Marlee just has an outright “disapproving” attitude towards anything. She’s been hiding under my sewing desk all day since I vaccumed again. Nix on the other hand thought the vaccum was a friend…she followed it all along the edge of her xpen.

haha! There’s a definate concentration by the pen and by the spot clean. She must have been saving them up special. Glad to hear she’s ok though even if she is being a brat!

Yeah for poop, but I guess boo for the mess LOL. Look like she definitely has done some territorial marking there. That should actually stop once she’s made her point that that is her cage…and that is her path over by the other side. Sometimes scented cleaners can cause them to remark if the scent is really perfumey. Depends on the bunny.

Hopefully she’s happy with the point she made and she will stop doing that after another day or so. Otherwise, you may have to reclaim that space with some litterbox/territory retraiining – which is temporary confinement. In the meantime, just see if this dies down on its own.

Yeah, she has kind of gotten bad about litterbox training…I find more throughout her cage and I used to only find an occasional few in my room. She really hasn’t marked my room any more today, but it may be cause I’ve been sitting on my bed pretty much the entire day so I would be able to catch her in the act. Although she has made a little pee spot again by Nix’s cage..

If I temporarily confine her until she’s better, won’t she just start marking again once she has the space back?

Oh, one thing I didn’t realize is that you have two…and they are separated. Okay, then, you may always have some poops within her cage as that is common for two bunnies who are not bonded but are in the same house. However, you can at least get the territorial droppings to be in her cage only instead of your room.

It sounds like she is back on track and has made her point. LOL. Their wild cousins will mark for several reason – one to note that they are “part of the group” and another to send a dominant message of claiming the territory. Domestics rabbits can do this as well.

So it sounds like she was just going over the old scent to say she was part of the group and now that she did, she’s fine about it. However, if she kept doing that and you couldn’t get it to stop, then my guess would be that she would be doing some dominant territorial marking. And in the case you would have to catch her in the act and escort her back to her cage, and then if that didn’t help, confinement helps as a reminder of what is “her territory” in comparison the the “general territory”.

Hope that makes sense. At this point though it sounds like all is back to normal.

Before I cleaned, Marlee always had some territorial poops in her cage and along the edge of Nixie’s xpen. But still she is pooping like crazy on my floor. She just doesn’t do it when I’m in there or when I’m awake. I’m afraid to restrict her to her cage all day though cause she’s used to always having free range of my room. And I haven’t been able to catch her doing it yet..

And today is her 1st birthday. Yay Too bad she won’t let me get anywhere near her to give her a bday scratch on the head. I gave her some raisins and she ran away flicking her feet at me..
