Yes blackberry leaves and clover is okay to feed. (It’s also on the BB veggie fruit list) But there’s a few things to watch out for. First, if other wild animals, like racooons (who can carry diseases that can be contracted by rabbits) have urinated on it (which is how the disease is contracted) then that can be a problem. You also have to be sure that they weren’t treated by anyone with pesticides or sprayed with anything.

It’s also not good for your bunnies digestive system to make drastic changes, so if you can at least buy a small amount of the normal veggies selection and introduce the other options in slowly that would be better for your bunnies. You can also see how your bunnies react to the clover and blackberry leaves.

I know that our local organic market gets tons of carrot top as left-overs, and they give the tops away for free. Not sure if you have the option, but it might be worth asking.

            mocha,
I know it’s up to your mother, but I’m a little confused about her decision to save money on veggies. If you get more romaine or green leaf or red leaf lettuce, it’s for the people in the house as well as the bunny. I’m on Weight Watchers right now, but they tell us to eat as many veggies and fruits as we can. It actually costs about the same to stock up on fresh foods than many of the processed boxed foods that are not good for us as long as they get eaten and don’t spoil. Maybe you could offer to give up something you budget for, like McDonalds once a week or a bag of chips, and opt to eat the better veggies instead yourself, along with your bunny. I hope I am not misunderstanding. I don’t want to make you feel badly about your Mom’s decision.

well we have to save money because we are going to be owning 2 pretty expensive property’s at the end of this month ( one with land, the othe lake front.) We are going to still buy romaine lettuce for them, and maybe some cheep parsley/cilantro. i got this new rabbit book, it says that a four pound rabbit needs about 1 cup of veggies per day and a 8 pound rabbit needs 2 cups per day so what if i start giving them 1 1/2 cup per day sense they are 6 pounds. i would normally try to feed 3 cups. I will be switching to wood stove pellets for litter so that should be cheaper, and i am also going to try to get them to eat more hay. I have a question, i fed Mocha and Lulu black berry leaves for the first time last night, this morning i woke up to find lulu didn’t finish her pellets from last night or her veggies! ( you should know that she is a pig and she normally is the one to finish every thing in about 2-3 hours and mocha doesn’t normal finishes his til about 10:00 am.) she is pooing and she ate a little bit of pellets this morning but i am just concerned cuz she normally is a big pig and to see her not finish her veggie’s or pellets is really un normal. she has still not finished them yet and it is 1:00 pm here!

I think 1.5 sounds a lot better then 3 cups a day-lucky bunnies but then they aren’t eating as much hay. So a decrease to 1.5 cups (as long as you keep some variety in there) sounds good to me
Keep an eye to see if she eats-if it’s 12-16 hours or so I’d see a vet just in case.
