Ever since I’ve let Bobby roam free instead of caged, I have not seen a flop.  Even Etienne mentioned this (surprised he noticed rabbit’s flopped).  He said he never had seen Bobby flop – Pepe used to flop all the time.

Bobby used to flop when he was caged though….wondering if he’s just overwhelmed or what.  I know he likes being out but I think he also likes a hidey hole as well because downstairs he usually lays under a table and upstairs sometimes under the bed.  I bought a little hidey hold thing but he’s yet to use it…I’m sure he will eventually.  I forgot too I have an extra kitty condo that I can give him as well so I”ll get that out for him.

I’m just surprised he hasn’t flopped (at least in front of me).

I think it will just take him a little time before he feels it is safe to be all flopped out. From my understanding Bobby has never experienced such freedom and access to large areas, it must be delightful and a little overwhelming at the same time. Or maybe he has not found that one perfect flop spot yet. Neigey is like this also, he keeps up his guard for a while, like when I put him in the outside pen for the first time, before trusting that it is safe to flop. Duffy on the other hand flops everywhere any time, but Duffy comes from a free-range background.

Yes, I agree, we will need a photo of Bobby. That way we can offer advice.

Dutchess flops usually when I’m the only one around, unless she’s in her habitat, then she’ll flop as long as things are relaxed. Flopping puts bunnies in a prone position, so I think once he gets comfy and feels completely safe he’ll want to flop.

Isabelle, that was how it was for Jersey when I only had her. She would flop nearby me most days. Now in a pair I see them flop when nearby one another or if secluded in a hidey box.

Sarita, was Bobby penned next to and in sight of the other rabbit you were looking after? I can’t remember her name. That could have something to do with it. They might feel more secure to flop when they know another rabbit is around to stand guard. He might not be as sure about you as Pepe was maybe? How long has he been free range?

Mouse; that’s a good name for a little grey lop.  Funnily, I was just thinking I want a bunny named Snuggie.

Mouse and Moose sound too much alike though The poor things would get confused

Jersey, initially Bobby was in a pen upstairs with the other rabbits but the little brat kept escaping the pen so I got his cage and that was downstairs and that’s where I kept him. It was the cage he was dumped in so it definitely was his cage that he was used too.

He’s really only been free range for less than a week. So I do have to think it has to be confusion and sensory overload for now. I gave him a few little hideaways as well so hopefully he will use those to feel secure. I do have to think it has to be the wide open spaces that are causing some insecurity and makes me wonder if perhaps he didn’t like his little cage…although it’s off the ground and I had to chase him to get him back into the cage. Unfortunately this cage is not adaptable to go on the ground either. Also he’s a very small rabbit at 2 pounds whereas Pepe was a large floppy rabbit.
