I’m in extra panic mode about this because Dimple is scheduled for his neuter tomorrow. I don’t know how comfortable I feel with having him neutered while he is having this issue. Here’s all I know so far:

Dimple is a 9 month old male. He has had bouts of GI Stasis before as well as gas. I have some Metoclopramide (i might be spelling that wrong) left over from the vet and have been giving it to him each morning for the last 3 days. I have also given him so baby gas relief drops. He has been given fresh grass, cilantro, 3 different kinds of timothy hay, pineapple juice in his water, some pellets – he’s been interested in all of it. He has even gone to his litter box a few times and I’ve seen him in the poop position, but when he hops out, there’s nothing. He was pooping tons yesterday so I was hoping we were out of the woods. I have observed belly pressing, hunched position, and his eyes seem tense/half shut. He still flops and lays down, but he’s not pooping. And with the belly pressing and hunched position, I’m extremely concerned. I am so scared he’s dying and I have tried everything I can think of. I have googled emergency rabbit vets but there are no emergency vets who treat rabbits open today within a 400 mile radius. And since it’s sunday, all the vets in the area are closed. I don’t know what to do.

Did the vet not have an emergency number for you to call after hours? All vets have a tech with the phone to answer during the week and weekend after hours. I would call the vet in the morning and tell them he’s sick and not to do the neuter but for you to still bring him in and do blood tests and maybe an X-ray. Are you force feeding? Are you syringe feeding water? His cecum might have dried up so he can’t poop. ( my bun had that happen) have you gave gas drops?

I would cancel his neuter appt for sure. Or use it for them to see him for this issue. When the have stasis, the liver enzymes become raised abs this is not a good combo with anaesthetics.

It’s good he is eating at least! That’s not typical of gi stasis but something certainly is amiss.
You may find he will (hopefully!) do a pile of poop all at one time. Maybe in evening or overnight.

OR, could he be eating all his poop perhaps??

He has even gone to his litter box a few times and I’ve seen him in the poop position, but when he hops out, there’s nothing.

Have you seen him urinate without trouble?
