Basically, my mum has said that when i go to uni next year my rabbit Biscuit will have to go back to having a cage

So i was thinking i could make a cool (and big) NIC cube cage for him, but we don’t really seem to have many of them here in the UK, and all the ones i’ve seen are SO expensive! Any ideas anyone? Thanks

Well, you have to make NIC cages, not just buy them. Do you have NIC grids? Have you looked on Amazon (assuming amazon does have a UK site, I think it does!)? This is what you’re looking for- http://www.amazon.com/Whitmor-6070-1723-Storage-Cubes-Black/dp/B000LRBSFI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315762326&sr=8-1
Other than that, you could totally do a dog exercise pen. They are easy to clean, although they will leave a larger foot print with less overall space than an NIC cage. I use them and like them.
Other than that, you could try to convince your mom to give Biscuit a room and just put a baby gate up at the door instead of shutting the door.

I would recommend a dog xpen. Very easy to move around, clean, and they provide plenty of space. And when you don’t need it, they fold up compactly. Another option is to do a combination condo and pen to expand his space safely. Will he still get out of cage exercise time?

How much exercise time would Biscuit get or would he be kept in a cage, ect.? If he has to be kept somewhere for most of the day or all the time then I would recommend a bunny room. As you probably know, the amount of “run time” needed is at least 4 hours separate from their rest area (cage, etc.), and longer if that rest area is smaller. Sorry if that was repetitive.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Safco-Wire-Cubes-in-Black/dp/B004RJ1K36/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1315784776&sr=8-5 isn’t too bad, but yeah a bit more pricey than over here. Do you have a craigslist type site over there? Sometimes they are on classified ads for cheap.

Thanks guys, i think instead of getting NIC cubes and making one, i’ll just stick with some sort of pen At the minute he’s free to roam 24 hours a day, but as he’s 8 and a half years old now, my mum feels it’d be best to confine him again when i go to uni thanks!

Its a shame you can’t have him with you but at 8+ years I suppose it’s better for him not to move homes. I do remember seeing some UK based NIC type grids online once but don’t recall where. A pen would be a good choice though, easier to keep clean. You might save money and can focus on making (or buying) some enrichment toys and things to deck out his new pad.

Yeah that’s a good idea. And i know, i would LOVE to be able to take him with me but of course university halls dont allow pets I’m 18 next year and have never lived without a pet in my life, be it hamsters, fish, rabbit or cats from a very young age, so i don’t know how i’ll cope! He does have hundreds of toys no exagguration, but i’ll certainly have to buy him something big and cool as an apology for going away and leaving him
