Just curious, can anyone take a picture or two of the latches/clasps/clips you’ve used on your NIC cube setups? I’m trying to build a *BIG* NIC cage for layla (current dimensions are 42″x56″x28″ with 5 shelves and a tunnel… two squares deep, four across, and three tall). Its a lot for one rabbit, but I’m building it with plans of taking in a rescue or two in the future once I have Layla altered.

A lot of people also seem to be suggesting using carpeting to cover shelves – what types of Carpeting are ok if your bunny tends to chew/shred everything? I was thinking of either using pegboard or plexiglass set on top of dowels, wrapped with newspaper which can be removed. Any help would be great. Right now I have the actual NIC cubes together with the connectors that came with them, but I need to get the other supplies to actually finish the cage up. I’d like to have her moved in by next week

Clasps we use are just standard clasps from the hardware store-it’s nice to zip tie them to the side so you can undo them and they stay there!…and we made hinges out of zip ties (just loosely tie them on).

You can use pretty much any kind of carpet as long as shes not eating it. They can and do eat small amounts but if yours will go to town on it, you might not want to put carpet in.

For my floors we used nic cubes all the way accross, they are very sturdy like that. Then foamies on top and then coroplast on top of that.
