After much research I have found that while all my local papers do use soy based ink, they also use petroleum based inks as well. Does anyone know what national newspapers use only soy based inks? I’m so angry, the local paper said they used soy based ink and I find out after I let Freya eat it that it also had other inks on it. I could almost strangle someone. Assuming I find a paper that’s safe, is there a reason to not let her chew newspaper. She’s eating plenty of pellets, hay and veggies but has simply decided that newspaper is the most delicious thing in existence… next to the carpet of course. I was actually thinking of buying maybe a Sunday paper every week, I get the coupons and Freya can have the news as long as it’s ok to let her have it. Win-win!

It’s frustrating like that, isn’t it. I found a locally printed newspaper that was willing to give their roll ends to us, newspaper type paper but without any ink on it. One roll end would last you a long time with one rabbit. …no coupons that way, but safe bunny litter material.

I don’t know where you live but have you looked into if you can buy all natural wood stove pellets (the ones without chemical additives)? They’re real cheap. They come in a 40 lbs. bag.

Try a large phone book. I leave it open on the floor and Felony will rip out pages and run with it in his mouth.

Thanks Petzy, but none of our local papers print their own, weird. I don’t need it for litter or bedding, I just wanted it because she thinks it’s delicious. I’ll try to get my hands on a phone book Hooty, thanks. I’ll also try getting some roll ends. Whatever makes her happy… 2 weeks and she’s already a spoiled brat and I’m bending over backward and spending hours on the phone to get her a newspaper.
