My bun Scout has just reached those teen years and he is acting different. I know that most of this is normal however is it normal for him to try to run when I pick him up and try to jump out of my arms even when he is far above the nearest surface? This is not something he used to do as a baby, he was incredibly easy to handle. Is this a hormone issue or something else like a socialization issue? If it is socialization what can I do to help the problem? Also how much is the normal neutering cost. My vet is charging $250-300 which if that is normal I don’t mind paying but if it is over preiced then I think I would like to look elsewhere.

        Thanks!

Bunnies are prey animals, and do not enjoy being picked up or being far above the ground. As bunnies get older, those that tolerated being held, often don’t as they hit maturity. So the odds of him ever being okay with being held/picked up again are unlikely. Don’t do it unless it’s absolutely necessary because he will learn to fear you. Hormonal behaviors are more like the spraying, territorial pooping, aggressive behaviors, and being territorial. My vet charged me $350-400 for each bun, but that also included a 36 hour stay for her to constantly monitor them.
