Hi guys,
So I adopted my male mini lop a new friend–an adorable holland/mini lop mix. Anyway, they get along extremely well (both fixed) but the new guy will NOT stop pooping EVERYWHERE
he pees in the litter box but poop is literally all over (they’re in a big NIC cage with their own carpet and 3 floors) and he kicks it out and all over my carpet outside of it! (gross)
Anyway, I was told from the rescue he is litter box trained. I knew he originally used cat litter boxes (uncovered) and my original guy uses the huge corner pan with the grate, so I bought him a second litter box and loaded it with hay, hoping to get him to at least start using that one and maybe eventually they will share it. He liked the new litter box and jumped right in, and laid there… FOREVER. but no dice–I woke up this morning to another HUGE mess.
I know he’s marking territory, so I actually vaccuumed their whole carpet, moved around the whole cage, and even bought a big litter box for them to use (that’s high because they’re both diggers), hoping to reduce the “territory” owned by my first lop. He jumps into it so I know he knows it’s there, and they don’t seem to mind sharing the space at all (they’re always cuddled up together) but I’m worried I’ll wake up to a poop massacre AGAIN..
I love this new lil guy and he’s not going anywhere, but my first bun is soo good with his litter box, even when he’s out of his cage hopping around, so I’m hoping the new bun learns from him!
Any suggestions to make the new bun better with the litter box usage?
