As many of you have probably read, I lost a very special bunny last week, Bo. Since his passing his bunnies friends including his bonded mate Aniseed have been coping with this loss. Before Bo passed I had been bonding him and Ani to two of my boys (another pair), Kyoto and PitStop.
This past week I have closed off Bo & Ani’s cage, and allowed the three bunnies more out of cage time, with access to PitStop & Kyotos cage. When I would let my other bunnies out i would lock the three in the boys cage.

I had been worried b/c Ani took to Kyoto, where Pitters who more affraid was sorta of on his own. I was considering getting him a Sr. girlfriend bunny, though I really don’t want another (7’s enough).
Anyways I cried today when I saw Ani grooming Pitters today!!! I couldn’t believe it, I’m just so happy that they are all getting along and no ones getting left out.

My next challange is to revamp Bo & Ani’s cage to make it Ani, Kyoto & Pitters new home, as the boys cage is’t really big enough for the three.

Woot! That’s awesome!!! Isn’t it amazing how such simple little actions from our buns make us so happy? I probably would have cried! I teared up when I finally saw Jeannie groom Leroy during their bonding sessions – she’d been holding out and poor little Leroy was doing his best to win her over, lol.

Good luck with building the new cage. Pictures of the new trio and their new digs, please!

This is great news! I have a bonded trio, and there are definitely group dynamics at play where one will get left out at times. My trio is a male (DJ) and two females (Curly Sue and Deanna). Often, DJ and Curly Sue will be side by side someplace and Deanna will be off on her own. Other times, the three of them will all be stretched out together, and sometimes DJ and Deanna will be together with Curly Sue off on her own. The two girls groom each other, but they are rarely together without DJ. There is also a pecking order of sorts, where Deanna humps DJ, DJ chases Curly Sue, and Curly Sue chases Deanna. It is fascinating to watch.

I had a couple other Trio’s before, the two boys were in one with an older female who passes away last year. Their new ‘sister’ is larger then both of them though, while Mittens the old girl was as tiny as PitStop is, plus Mittens was SO much nicer LOL. (Ani, she has a real ummm ‘personality’ LOL).

After all the stress of the past weeks, it was just such a reliefe to see Pitters getting some love.
I’ll be down to 3 cages over 4, and will be able to make the younger pairs cage larger, and then the rabbit play area will eb expanded some as well

My trio was so hard to achieve. I can’t believe yours just configured itself like this. Whimsical wabbits…

I think the fact that they all would have playtimes together since last year has helped, and that I let many of them out during cleaning day so they they can sniff one another and such. And well most of my bunnies are quite nice and social (most lol). I’ve been letting Baby & Bubba out while the Trio as well, Baby grooms everyone eyes and Bubba binkies for treats LOL.

I have found PitStop and Ani snuggled up with each other a few times now Still designing their new setup/cage.
