Hi, Fern just mastered a trick I was trying to teach her. the trick was just to spin around in a little circle when I say spin, but it looks soo cute when she does it.

I feel very accomplished now that Fern has learned her first trick. The key, I learned, is to be consistant and continuous, don’t get frustrated if they don’t learn right away.

I feel so proud and I just wanted to let out some of my pride, I feel like Fern is the smartest bunny in the world (although I must admit she is probably not).

Right now she is at the stage where she spins when I tell her, but if I tell her multiple times in a row she thinks, “oh it is spin time,” and she spins as soon as she is done with the treat and not when I tell her. I will not stand for that, so if she does do that, then I tell her to spin again, and then I give her a treat after the second spin, she must only spin when she is told to.

What Kind of tricks does your bunny do so that I can have an Idea of the next trick I want to teach Fern.

P.S. Ferns pre- spay appointment was changed now it is on the 20th of october…. we changed it because we decided that the time we chose before was not very conveniant. I have to wait longer now.

Awesome that your bun does a trick!!! I don’t have the patience to teach my buns tricks unfortunetly, I have enough with training my horse for now.

If you put a pen or a coin in front of Stormy he will toss it up in the air every time, that’s maybe sort of a trick? Although I think he’s just mad…

How did you get her to spin?! Charlie was well on his way to learning but started doing the spin when ever he wanted anything, then decided he NEVER got treats and now refuses to do it.

I had to hide the hoop when he finished jumping thru it because otherwise he would sit in the middle of it and glare at me for not giving him treats.

OH my thats funny about the hoop.  Well glad  you had success.   Cotton was scared of the clicker. HE wouldn’t take a treat it he heard it. He must have thought it mean stop dont’ touch that.

I dont’ have that much patience or persistence these days.   Good for you that you do.

I got her to spin by showing her a treat and spinning it around her slowly so she would follow it. I did this until she reached the starting point of her spin. I also always said spin before I did the circle with the treat. Then I did that over an over while saying spin. Eventually she would spin if I just held the treat behind her. Soon after if I just said spin she would spin, and now she is a master of spinning! I have to try to get a video of it… I will have to ask my dad how to put a video on the internet… Thanks everyone!
LoL Cassi&Charlie Charlie was probably thinking “I am in the hoop, where is the treat?” Luckily The treats I give Fern are good, I trained her with Romane lettuce. So I don’t feel guilty when training her!

but seriously… i started clicker training with Mead but i stopped once we got Max. i need to start again. maybe if i can get off of a certain bunny website…

Frankie knows how to come when called, “spin”, “up” (to stand on hind legs), and “walk” (where he walks on hind legs).

They’re all taught in similar ways so if Fern can learn spin, she should have no trouble with “up” for sure! But she’ll never stop either! Haha
