Hi, I picked up a 14 week old Rex doe today from a breeder. I have her in a x-pen with a litter box. She’s not litterbox trained so I was picking up her poop and putting it in the litter box when she lunged and grunted at me. Is this normal behavior for a bunny that hasn’t settled in yet? I’ve only ever owned bucks that were eventually neutered, I’ve never experienced this with them. I’m concerned because I’ve heard does can be temperamental

She’s probably terrified because she’s been put in a new environment TODAY. She doesn’t know that she’s safe so she’s protecting herself.

I agree, my first days of owning Charlie, she was quite skittish and grumpy, most likely due to the stimulation of a new home, just give her a couple days of just touching her when you need to feed her or clean her cage; no hugging, carrying, etc. to help her settle and become used to you and the new stimuli, that’s what I did, also, you could try saying her name and softly stroking her when you are feeding her along with treats! (bribery usually works great!)
