        Hey,

I adopted a second rabbit from a rescue about a week and a half ago and the two rabbits seem to be getting along really well.
The new rabbit however is acting really aggressive toward me.
When I try to lay him with my other rabbit he lays still for a bit then lunges at me with both of his arms and latches on to my arm.
His bites are really hard and I’ve got more cuts from him then I have had from my other rabbit in the eight months I’ve had her.
She was so loving right off the bat and he seems to be really difficult.
He will even approach me looking for a pet and when I reach my hand out he backs away or lunges at me.
I’m glad he’s getting along with my baby girl but he is so mean to me and I don’t know what I can do to help the situation.
I’ve been trying to hand feed him but he won’t eat from my hand.
I also want to mention that every time he gets on my bed he pees.
He is litter trained and neutered so I really don’t understand why he is acting so strangely.

          Hi there,

He sounds like he is still settling in, so I would leave him alone for a couple weeks and “play hard to get”. A week and a half is no time at all for a bun to trust you. Some buns do seem to insta-bond with their owners, but sometimes the shy ones are the most rewarding to bond with.

Given what you describe, I think he also should have more settling-in and pre-bonding time before you continue bonding sessions with your current bun, just to make sure he is behaving normally around her.

I think it’s important to remember that rabbits are aggressive out of fear. When he approaches you, just ignore him for now. Keep trying the hand feeding, but don’t force it. Lay on the ground and read a book and just ignore him in general.

It is also very common for buns to pee on beds, as they smell strongly of humans and are soft, so it might be best to just prevent him from getting on the bed.
