We finally moved into our new home last weekend. My biggest fear was whether Brian Bum would be ok with it, as he’s been used to the freedom of the place being carpeted (never once ventured onto the laminate in the kitchen!), and our new place is laminate throughout. I’m overthemoon at how well he’s settled in. Until we get properly sorted & get a nice rug for the bedroom he’s most content with an unrolled sleeping bag under the bed, his flag, his pashmina & cushion. We were worrying in case it confused him & we’d have to litter train him again, but nope, he’s been an absolute treasure (well apart from a sole poop on the bed the first day, but we all have our little accidents!
) We kept his old litter in there so he knew the smell, and the same with his cage, didn’t want to lose all the comforting smells in one go. The bedroom is much smaller now and we thought we’d have to keep him locked in his cage at night in case he whacked his head on the bedframe jumping in and out, but he manages it just fine.
He ventured out of his bedroom & up the hallway last Thursday, and has made good use of the rugs in the living room since, coming out and lounging happily in front of the tv, he’s most unconcerned with the noise of the tile cutter and I can’t believe how much friendlier he is. He was never one for sitting on laps having a stroke, only jumping on the bed at 3am demanding a cuddle, but he’ll jump up now, yesterday he even quite forcefully got a mouthful of slipper and dragged my foot out the way so he get up on the sofa. i needn’t have lost sleep worrying. The Bum is in his element.
