Hello, this is my first post, but I’ve been reading the forums. Thanks for all the helpful advice. We adopted a fixed female named Phoenix, she was with us for about 2 months. We then realized that she would probably be happier with a friend. The rescue offered to find her a bunny to bond with, they took Phoenix back while they did this. Phoenix and Binx bonded, we got them both here yesterday. Binx is a neutered male. Both bunnies are about a year old.
Binx is very shy, he runs to the hidey house if any human even looks at him. He and Phoenix obviously love each other. I’m sure that he will settle in and be more comfortable over time.
The interesting thing is that whenever we fed Phoenix as a single rabbit, she would scarf down all the food immediately. It was really impressive. So when we gave the pair their veggies last night, we gave them a very generous amount so that Binx would be sure to get some. Well, Binx was too scared to eat, and Phoenix would not eat either. Eventually, Binx ate a little, then Phoenix would also eat a little. It took them many hours to eat the veggies. The same thing happened with their pellets this morning. Is this normal behavior? It seems to me that Phoenix is being very thoughtful to Binx being scared. These are our first bunnies. Thanks for any feedback.
