I am not sure how these people get my phone number or email address but they always seem to have it. Whether it is a sick kitten or puppy or even chickens and peacocks.
I was contacted on Wednesday by someone in my area about a rabbit that was brought home by a child. I was basically told either I come and get it or they were going to drown it in the creek (sadly not uncommon to drown unwanted baby animals in my area).
I went to pick the bunny up and the stench coming off this poor rabbit was unreal and she was soaking wet from sitting in an open cage outside while it poured the rain. The smell was like a mixture of cat pee and something moldy it was terrible. Poor thing was absolutely terrified. Before I left I lit into those two “adults” for so long I am shocked I didn’t lose my voice. I also reported them but nothing will likely come of it.
We went to the vet and she is a female and roughly 6 weeks old. If you look at the pictures below you can see that she is super tiny. The willow balls are the small size and the baby keys are standard baby keys. She can sit in one hand comfortably the biggest part of her is her big ole ears.
She was given an overall clean bill of health other than some dehydration that was quickly fixed. My plan was to take her to the shelter since I am not really ready for a new bunny. But I rarely stick to that plan if I have the time, space and funds. Besides she keeps snuggling into my lap and giving me tiny baby kisses.
So for now the plan is to eventually try to bond her and Monty.
No idea on the breed or how small or big she will eventually be. And she has no name I’ve been just snapping my fingers at her to get her attention. Lol. I am in general bad with pet names but female pet names are close to impossible for me.
PICTURES!!
Don’t mind the ancient stained litter box I haven’t had time to get her a new one.

The color of her feet was pretty much her overall color when I picked her up.

Aw bless! Such a sweet face.
Now starts her life of being loved & cared for like she deserves.
She looks like she might be a lop Sonn. Hard to say this early on I guess.
Baci is italian for kisses…
You will probably settle on a name once you’ve gotten to know her better.
She is adorable and so lucky! OMG, how could someone even think of drowning that precious little sweetie. You’ll definitely have to gave “the talk” with Monty about being nice to her!
Hopefully Monty won’t think she is a snack. Lol.
I don’t even try to identify breeds I am so bad at it. I just know her ears are huge compared to her body.
She’s so wee.
She’s a dutch, looks nearly pure dutch even though her markings are imperfect (she shouldn’t have black on her elbows and her blaze looks narrow.) I would assume she will grow up to fit the dutch breed standard for size, they are generally medium-small rabbits.
She is definitely tiny. When I let her out to run around I lost her a few times in the living room because she can fit pretty much anywhere.
I thought dutch because of her markings as well.
I’ve only had her here for a few days but she is slowly becoming less terrified of everything. The tv is a bit iffy right now, if something is loud on tv she freaks out.
You know Sonn, at some point you ate going to have to give the little girl a name!
What about Patsy?
That’s the name of King Arthur’s assistant in The Holy Grail. Although he is a man in the movie, I’ve always seen Patsy as more of a girl’s name.
She’s adorable by they way! I agree, there has to be some Dutch in there.
Yes I know she needs a name instead of me just clicking at her or calling her “Hey Bunny”. Lol.
I thought of Patsy as well but I have a friend named Patsy who is at my house a lot.
I think the Monty python rabbit was actually a female
and had like a persons name.
brb…
Nope. Think ive got that wrong. I might be getting mixed up with the owner – who was female. Lol
Don’t know that naming her after the person who owned that rabbit would work . . . doubt anyone will ever “own” Monty!

Aw what a doll baby. She may be Dutch or just Vienna-marked but she’s a lovely lucky girl either way.
Awww…what a little cutie! Thanks so much for taking her in. There sure are some horrible, heartless people out there.
I will try to come up with some names.
MORE PICTURES!
I tried really hard to get a picture of Sir Puffball Monty but he was having none of it.

You can really see the icky pee stains on her tail in this picture.

My dog Pig (his name is Ziggy but he is called Pig more) apparently needed his picture taken.

He tried so hard to get her to play with him. It was adorable.

She was secretly peeing on my pillow.

Rabbits have the ability to look completely innocent while doing things they shouldn’t. Like peeing on pillows. She’s lovely and I’m glad you were able to take her in. ![]()
Oh, wow! She is really pretty! She needs a pretty name!!!!
She is just too cute. I love the way you’ve caught that shy little look. Hopefully the pee stains will grow out fast — that would drive me crazy thinking about her previous conditions every time I looked at the stains. Sure it doesn’t bother her though . . . she’s just happy to be out of the rain and have a nice soft pillow to pee on! ![]()
Congrats Sonn! She is beautiful and adorable, thank you for giving her a new chance at life! How exciting for both of you!
P.s. Your dog is a cutie too!
Oh she’s such an adorable little thing! She seems to have a bit of regalness to her. I like to name my pets generally after characters. =p Is there a female character from anything that you like?
So glad you were able to save her. She’s adorable!
She is so shy but so sweet! But at the same time she is mischievous just in a smaller package kind of way. I am going to have to rabbit proof better since she can fit in places that Monty can’t fit.
So far my list of names include Clover, Gypsy, Noodle, Lollipop, Starbuck (Battlestar Galactica not the coffee shop), Bubbles, Waffles. Lollipop and Waffles come from her stealing food from my youngest cousin. Gypsy was my favorite character from DC Comics when I was younger plus I like the way it sounds. Clover, Noodle, and Bubbles just because.
She is settling in the house bunny life quite well. She LOVES toys of any kind but she really likes snuggling up to her stuffed ducky and gorilla. But she is scared of cardboard boxes and having her ears touched. She doesn’t mind them being rubbed as you pet her head but if you try to touch them individually she starts shaking. She is also obsessed with sleeping in my shoes. She is very snuggly she loves my older dogs because they like to snuggle with her as well. She is still scared of my tv if it is too loud.
Sleeping in your shoes! I’m feeling cute overload coming on from that!
I like Gypsy, it just seems to fit the whole tiny package somehow.
I like Gypsy too or Starbuck.
We definitely need a pic of her sleeping in a shoe! So cute!
I love the name Gypsy. I’d love to have a horse with that name. ![]()
I like Gypsy too! What a pretty name.
Looks like another bun bun named by the BBers! ![]()
She is so adorable!! I love the pictures, ![]()
JR – Yep, if Sonn doesn’t decide we might just all start calling her Gypsy. Speaking of which, I wonder how Manny is doing…
Lol I’ve been calling her a whole host of names for the past two days. But I agree her name should be Gypsy it just fits somehow.
I bet she doesn’t like hers ears touched because those horrible people picked her up by them. The breeder who had my M&Ms used to pick them up by the scruff of their neck/back and it seemed like forever before they didn’t run away if you tried to touch them there even to pet them — had to stick to cheek rubs at first.
I’m so glad you saved little Gypsy!
