Me and my husband went out tonight to home depot to see what materials we could gather to combine the bunny cages we had, but that didnt work so well! At home depot we found like bunny proof wire for like gardens, so we got home and tried it and a definite NO! That didnt work at all…much too floppy, but at least it wasnt that expensive! So after that plan failed we went to pet co and bought an xpen…a tad expensive but hopefully well worth it to the buns! Once we got that home the door wasnt where we wanted it so we had to detatch a section to move it so the door was in front…such a pain but its all set up and theyre still trying to figure out that they have to jump over the little edge under the door, but they will get it soon enough! My buns also have a phobia of hardwood floor…they will not set a foot on it unless they have to (a funny thing to watch them do)!

That looks great! They have so much more room! Like I said before, the awesome thing is that you can totally remove the xpen to clean, it will make things very easy for you.

To bad the welded wire fence didn’t work out for you.
What construction method did you use?
I made a temporary pen buy cutting 10, 2 foot panels filing off the sharp edges and zip tying them together.

You can get 1″x2″s and build frames to sandwich the fence between, then use l screws and eye screws to make hinges that will let you easily separate the panels.
Though I suppose having an xpen makes that kind of moot, but it is something to keep in mind for future expansion.

We still kept the wire fencing just in case but it was just too much work for that night lol…At some point we will probably make one with the fence and attatch it…the first night didnt go so well but it was their first night…lots of pulling at the bars and re-shaping the pen for me in the morning! They just like dont know what to do with themselvesbeing “out” but not “out out” annoyed them and they constantly dug through the bars and pulled blankets through the bars…funny to see a little tiny bunny nose smushed through them hehe but they will get it soon enough!

very cool and roomy. And you will find that when it’s cage cleaning time, it will be easier than you imagined.
