New Bunny is making strange a strange noise

Ok so I got Waldo today. He’s eating lots of pellets and hay and drinking lots and pooping lots he is basically acting like a happy, healthy, content baby except when I was watching tv I heard this strange noise. I mute the tv and it sounds like wheezing? Or snoring? Or something weird. It’s not consistent with each breath tho. His nose has no discharge and I haven’t seen a sneezy yet (I’ve eyeing these newbs nonstop) its very concerning and I walked over there and he was just laying down and then he did a weird roll? And flopped down. He did like a belly roll or something that dogs do? And so I put him in my lap and feel his chest and I can actually feel his throat vibrating when he makes that weird snort/wheezy breath! 

As I type this he is up eating some hay. And now he is flipping his house over so he is still being crazy active and playful. I only hear him grunt/snore/wheeze when he is staying still relaxing. 

Omg he just scaled the wall to get to the roof of the cage! I feel like he is going to hurt himself. This rabbit will not stop climbing in things…  I’m so paranoid

Is it a bit like a grinding noise ? If so it’s purring, they grind their teeth gently when they are happy and make a funny noise. Soft grunting can also be happy noises especially if they are circling your feet at the time.

Wow I didn’t think he would be happy enough to vocalize it so soon. I haven’t even had him 24 hours yet lol but he is acting normal today and no purrs or grunts yet.

Considering the environment they came from (breeder then pet shop) it would not be surprising he is deliriously happy about having room to play and good food. He has most likely never been outside a small cage or enclosure in his short life. Still be alert for signs of pain or discomfort like hunching, tummy noises, loud grinding etc, but if he is playing, flopping, running and binkying with the noises I tend to think he is just expressing joy. As you mentioned in your other thread a vet check is on your priority list so mention it your vet when you take them in. Take some poop samples from both too so the vet can check for worms and other problems.

Sometimes they do vocalize, it’s a sign of a really comfortable bunny (unless of course it’s an alarming vocalization like a yell, or as you’ve ruled out congestion, as it doesn’t happen with each breath;; also as pointed out any signs of discomfort would indicate it’s not a happy noise). I think as Roberta said, it sounds like he may be realizing just how darn lucky he is and he’s really happy about that

I am hoping its just that he is very happy! He has been doing lots of binky’s and playing today! After he was done he jumped on the couch and slept right by me for a power nap. He actually did a half roll exposing his belly so I gave him a rub. And they both got to try their first mini salad! It was just some romaine lettuce (doing one at a time)

The girl is taking longer to adjust but she seems to be getting better running around end every now and then come up for a sniff and pat but shed rather do her own thing. The boy is a definite mommas boy thanks everyone. Their apt with the vet is Wednesday. Until then, I’ll keep a close on eye on him. Haven’t heard any grunts since this morning

Well I can’t wait for their vet appointment because he has a very slight amount of discharge coming from his nose. I haven’t heard him make that noise again but he does have a light discharge it’s white in color
