Hello All,  well we brought our new little Holland Lop hop yesterday.  Gilbert is 3 months.  With him I bought 1st cut Timothy hay from the breeder and a bag full of his pellets which is what he has been getting from the breeder.  We have him in a dog crate with his hay, pellets, water and pooper.  My concern is I do not see much pee or poops at all.  I know it will take time for him to get use to his new surroundings.  We have him where he can see us, back end of his cage is covered with a blanket and we get him out to explore and hold him.  He is grooming and eating hay, some water.  Do we need to be concerned with the lack of the 2 p’s?  The breed said we may not see any for a couple days?????  Thanks in advance.

It’ll be spotty for a few days, but he should still be pooping. If he’s not at all for more than 12 hours, that’s a vet emergency. As long as he’s doing something it’s a good sign. Give him some baby gas drops to help speed him along if you’re concerned.

Also, as he is new, go easy on the handling and holding. As bunnies are prey animals they shouldn’t be held just for the sake of cuddling. So give him some space while he settles and try not to handle him for a week or two while he settles in.

Welcome, I don’t usually reply to stuff since i’m also quite new at this so anyone can correct me if i’m wrong. I got nemo 3 months ago and we went to get him early in the morning, he was obviously scared and I didn’t see him until the next day since he hid in his little house so of course the same as you I was worried. It was recommended for me to leave him alone the first 2 days at least so he could get a bit settled in before some large stranger started touching him. It took me a couple of days to see that he was actually pooping since he had probably been doing it in his house where he was hiding.
I then moved his hay over his toilet so then it became easier for me to see his poops.

Thank you.  The rabbits from this particular breeder are handled everyday to get them use to it.  I held him on the drive home.  He is a very calm and sweet little guy.  He has had some poops, no urine though.  I have since turned his cage so he is facing the hall way as I noticed whenever I would walk in from of his cage he would jump from being startled.  So I turn his cage so he will not be disturbed and cage is covered on the back end with a blanket so he won’t constantly see me walking back and forth.  This little guy is our 2nd time being bunny parents.  Our first one, Stewart we rescued from the outdoors as he was dumped.  Had him for several years…he passed away this past October .  Really miss him, and getting little Gilbert of course made us really think of Stewart.  These little creatures just attach to our hearts so fast!!!
