New Bunny for Hammer!

WE’RE BACK!!!!! Hammer did amazing! He tried to play with evrey girl, didnt show any aggressive behavior, and was a perfect gentlemam (He doesnt kiss on the first date lol). First was Kristie, a 3 year old English Spot, and boy was she something! What a diva lol, she couldnt handle Hammers up beat attitude and that led to a chase, so thats the end with Kristie.Then came Cassandra, a rex mix, they did okay.. no sparks but had potential. Then April, a 3 year old New Zealand, They did good.. but again no sparks. Hammer noised around and she loafed. Next was Flannery, another English Spot, that didnt do well because she didnt like Hammers sudden sharp jumps and runs…. so that date was short. Then last was Tegan, the poor Holland Lop that i had told Hammer to pick. Tegan right off the bat nipped Hammer on the nose, but he was not phased so the date went on and all was well. Some cuddles but Tegan seemed tense.

Then we were down to three, Cassandra, April and Tegan. Cassandra turned out fine but we sensed that she would become aggrivated that Hammer would but groom so we aliminated her. Then April came into play, some mounting from Hammer, but he only tried twice. They were locked in groom me mode for awhile, but Hammer finally gave her two licks on her shoulder. Then Tegan came back, They loafed side by side and toke a few walks around the pen seperatly. Tegan randomly ran at Hammer and my mom insticts hit since i was in the pen. I grabbed Hammer and deflected a possible nip and that was the end for her.

April wins! This is the bunny i had told Hammer not to get in the first place lol. She is 3 years and weighs 8 lbs. Pink-red eyes and a bit cubby. Not exacty what i would call an attractive bunny lol. She has been eating hay non stop since she got here and loves her willow ball. They seemed to be noticing eachother, but ignore eachother  for now. Hammer really didnt pick though! The girls picked Hammer. He loved everyone, it was just a matter of finding someone to put up with him lol. 

Sorry for the bad picks, my camera is dead so its my moms camera, which isnt as good. One of her and one of Hammer just so you can picture them together lol. And names.. I dont like the name April. Im thinking Rose because of her eyes, or Toluola or maybe Ethal lol. Any ideas for names?!

but seriously, i think she’s a lovely young lady! the REWs certainly grow on you the more you see them! i think they’re gonna make a beautiful pair! yay for you following Hammer’s lead!

Yea i really was upset that the other adorable buns got passed up and i ended up with her at first. But if thats whats best ill do it ya know? But she has already grown on me some, i read her background story and have been sitting with her and such. So I feel for her more now. I dont think ill become attached as quickly, but im getting there. I know this sounds awful lol but cute is easier to love from the start.. But we are getting there!!

Wow! That was quick. Love how you said the girls really decided in the end. hahaha! Congratulations! They actually make a striking pair with their soliid colours.

And Pepper- Cassandra is cute but she is BIG. And she is honestly cuter in her picture lol, but still adorable. She might not do so well with a active bunny. Poppy im not sure about. I saw her there, at the fosters home where the dates were, but she didnt want to introduce her because she is young and im thinking that she may adopt her.. i was confused there. But she is seriously pretty. And give Tegan a chance to, the picture on the site is old. Ya know how she was growing out old urine stained fur? Well she is a gorgeous gray and black color now. Absolutely the most gorgeous bun ever!!!

Actually Rose seems a sweet name. Hammer more masculine and Rose is def feminine. Sort of a classic name.

I like the name Tonks.  From HP LOL  I dunno ..when I saw “tongs” it reminded me of Tonks.

Oh she’s beautiful, Liz!! *sighs* Oh there was another bunny at the store the other day when I went in for hay that was passed out on it’s side in it’s tiny pen (I hate how they keep the giveaways right next to the dog grooming area! Unacceptable!) and it looked just like this one! A ruby-eyed white. But I couldn’t tell if it was male or female. I didn’t want to linger or I’d have been begging the hubby to rescue another bunny and I know he’s not up for it.

hahaha! Im so glad you got him a friend! yeah i had my eyes on Cassandra and Poppy. I know Cassandra is big lol it said something like 8 pounds on the website. The only thing making me not want Tegan is the fact that i really want an uppy eared bun this time. but of course like you did, i would let pepper do the choosing, and if he were to choose Tegan then great! lol! im so happy for you and im sure you will come to love april/rose just as much as you do hammer!

how did April Rose get thru the night?

LOL LOL Beka! Thats hilarious! She did okay i guess. She got really nervous and ran back to her litter box at every sound and movement. I was thinking that maybe since she has red eyes, she cant see so good in the dark. Every time the rats who are also in my room moved or ate etc. she freaked out. I left the tv on so that the noise of it would distract from the other animal noises throughout the house. Plus the added light glow i was thinking may have helped her see what was moving and not be so paranoid. My diabetic cat didnt have a good night and was meowing all night so im sure that didnt help! I fell asleep soon after in turned on the tv but i think she did better with that.

Oh Liz, do you have to sleep with the t.v. on too? I’ve found that lately, if I do that or have my little radio in my ear with the buds on I can sleep through the night noises the buns make just a little better…unless of course they drop the atomic bomb or something like that. ^_^

Do red eyed bunnies have trouble seeing? I never thought of that, but maybe the pigmentation does alter their field of vision somewhat?

I used to keep the tv on. But ive turned it off this year because they say the tv messes with your REM sleep and since i dont get much sleep at all I need all the help i can get there. But im not sure if its helping any cus i wake up because of all the animal noises!
Im not sure about the eye sight thing really. But i smell a new thread lol

I think she is a beautiful bunny! When I see white red eyed buns I just see pure beauty. They are gorgeous, I don’t know why everyone doesn’t see them that way! It’s the classic Easter Bunny!

I like the name Rose or Rosie. I was gonna name my red eyed white (if he turned out to be a girl) Scarlett. I think that’s a great name for a rew.

Glad Hammer is happy with his new gal! I can’t wait to see pics of them snuggling by the fireplace, lol…
